If you jealously watched as seemingly every crew in snowboarding went to Japan in search of snow last season, then you know the Japanese know a thing or two about powder. Made to handle the absurdly-deep pow of Hokkaido, the Burton Skipjack Snowboard is a powder-slaying beast that's only available in Japan and here at Backcountry.com.
It starts with a pow-specific shape that features a huge nose and a tapered swallow tail to keep you afloat in the deepest, fluffiest snow and offer excellent maneuverability to help you navigate powder-filled tree stashes. Traditional camber provides pop and power, and it helps the Skipjack kill it on hardpack too. 60° Carbon Highlights Hi-Voltage uses a tip-to-layer layer of carbon to reduce weight while improving response, and the 60° angle of the fibers gives the board a playful feel for surf-like turns in pow.
The Super Fly II core uses multiple different woods in strategic areas to increase strength where it's needed most and reduce weight where possible. Dualzone EGD positions the wood grain on the edge perpendicular to the rest of the core for consistent edge hold and added strength. Squeezebox profiling makes the core thinner where you want flex and thicker where you need strength. It's finished off with a Sintered WFO base that's infused with a specially-formulated wax to keep you flying down the slopes all season.
