The best skiing and hiking sock!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I have been wearing Bridgedale socks for probably over a decade when I ski because they are thin, warm and my feet don't get blistered when I have them on. Last year I started wearing them for hiking with the same results. They are well worth the price.

    Bridgedale to the Rescue

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Bridgedale continues to make the best socks for any application. In this case, the Ultra Fit Ski Sock is a must for those who are shell fit properly and using a proper footbed. Ultra thin means ultra comfort and increased sensitivity to whats happening with the skis under your feet... The materials allow your feet to slide in and out of your liners with ease, even at the end of a long day on the hill. Super durable and articulated means no wrinkling or bunching, no matter what. Can't have enough pairs of these in my bag!

    Bomber

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These socks are so good that I'm taking a chance on whether the small will fit me, because everyone's out of medium! They were the thinnest sock I could find at REI when I got my Langes a few years ago. I'd been wearing knee high stockings until things loosened up enough to consider something else, so I picked up these and a pair of Smartwool PhD ultra-light socks, but the Smartwools cut off the circulation in my performance-fit boots. The Bridgedales are just right; they provide a little warmth and nice support, and add no bulk or padding. Despite my unladylike sweaty feet, they don't get clammy or stinky, both of which are important when skiing all day (it helps that I dry my liners every time I ski). As for durability, I've put 40 or 50 days on them, including wearing them on the way home from the hill, and they show no sign of wear, pilling, or stretching.

I've heard of some other promising brands that I may try, but I'm buying these anyway because there's nothing like finding something that just does the job.

    Extremely thin

Extremely thin socks. Probably thinner than a pair of dress socks even. These really helped remove some pressure spots in my ski boots last year, especially around the front of the shin. They aren't going to provide any padding, but are plenty warm. For racing or skiing where you don't want any play between your feet and your boots I can't recommend these enough.
