From walking around the edges of cliffs to scaling rocky chutes on the way to the summit, the Black Diamond Via Ferrata set is designed to protect us when in exposed sections. Two safety carabiners with a slide-down locking design secure us into the line and can be easily operated with one hand. A Dyneema Energy Absorption System reduces impact force in the event of a fall, and an integrated webbing loop attaches directly to our harness for a safe connection.

BEWARE - Doesn’t Lock Properly
After using the VF once I noticed the sliding lock kept getting caught and wouldn’t lock all the way. I submitted this flaw to BD warranty and after reviewing and showing them the issues - they deemed it “fully functional”. I’ve used plenty of VF and never had this issue before….so definitely go with another brand. I’ve been very happy with my new Petzi Scorpio VF system.

Worked like it should!
Sometimes, managing your lanyard while doing a via ferrata is the most challenging and sometimes annoying part of it all. This system worked great to me! The locking mechanism caused me no troubles and was super easy to open and close with one hand. I was never fumbling.

Solid set, but heavy
I’ve used this for via ferratas in Telluride and Ouray, Colorado. It is definitely solid. It’s easy to use the claws. It is heavier than some lightweight lanyard sets, but also about the same weight as other standard sets.

Fantastic Via Ferrata Set!
We bought two of these to use on the Telluride and Ouray via ferratas and these were perfect for those. They're easy to use and we had zero issues with them.

Need a non locker for static
Used with gloves and worked very well. You may be able to make these, but the design is more comfortable and easier to manage with the lanyard. Great set for our 4b route, also need a carabiner for static line.

Worked Great for Half Dome Cables
Bought this setup for use on the Half Dome Cables and was easy to clip and unclip and helped give me and my children peace of mind as we went up and down the half dome cables.
