almost perfect
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought this backpack for a week-long beach vacation trip and carried it onto the plane (3 flights each way = didn't want to deal with checking a bag!) I loved the duffel style of the main compartment (easy to organize with packing cubes) and the two additional zipped compartments. I was able to even pack a smaller, flat-packing backpack into the main, larger compartment behind the duffel for day trips, and the boot pocket was great for toiletries/damp swimsuits. Cons: This backpack actually weights like 6.3 pounds (vs the claimed weight, 4lbs 5oz), and it's very heavy when fully packed. The backpack and hip straps can theoretically be stuffed away when the backpack is in "duffel" mode, but I couldn't get them to cleanly tuck away into the pockets. I probably wouldn't want to use this as a duffel due to the weight, the fact that the duffel strap is basically just a nylon strap (no padding).
