Most comfortable boot
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I love the feel and weight of this boot. The wide toe box allows my wide size 14 feet to fit perfectly. The boot is designed in two parts; the toe box and the rest. Once you lace them up the way that works best for you you will notice no slippage, comfortable ankle support, super grippy traction. It is missing better lace eyelets especially on the toe box portion hence the 4 star. I wear them every day in the city and have worn them in the bwca and on rocky terrains. I'll buy another pair when given the chance.

Uncomfortable and distinct foot mechanic
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- 9
The rubber toe protection around the toebox seems to dig in and rub against toes when trying to walk. The extra rubber also seems to make the toebox narrower. The toebox is definitely wider than other boots, but apparently my feet do not conform to the mold this company was modeling consumers after. The outsoles or overall design also seem to force the foot (or at least my feet) to step in a more supinated manner, meaning they seem to force my foot to follow a more diagonal step rather than neutral. Returned before using due to discomfort in fit and feel. Material and build looked nice though. Maybe my feet are just high volume.

A real hiking boot with room for toes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The Altra Lone Peak high tops are great - but they are just flimsy shoes and weren't enough for my backpacking even on trail. These are legitimate boots. Still lightweight but with real support, a much more rigid sole, and better lacing options. They look like new after ~100 trail miles. The tongue is stiff and uncomfortable without heavier socks around the ankle, typical Altra doesn't manage a high instep well so I find them tough to get on. But if you need the width or toe space then there isn't an alternative.
