    Break ups are hard.

I've used the Sense 4, 5 and 6 for thousands of miles, many thousands of feet of vertical and on many mountains and sadly returned the 7's very quickly. There is much less protection than previous versions. It's really hard to explain, but these have a very very different feel underfoot. So different it wasn't worth trying them too long. I also quickly had a problem with them rubbing my ankle on the inside, as they lace higher than previous versions. Interestingly, I did not have the same problem with the new Sense Pro 3 that also laces higher.

I do agree with the other reviewer that they may be good for speed work. But personally for me that would be it. I've tried to stock up on the Sense 6's but the world seems to be out of them.

    Best version yet, by far

Wow... simply amazing shoes and the best update I could have imagined. The outsole is now much narrower in the heel, so there is far less of a platform back there; the feel and performance, to me, is greatly improved. The upper is quite thin and soft, yet very secure and it feels quite strong and durable as previous versions were. The heel cup of the upper no longer has any ridgity; it is soft and flexible. Exceptionally comfortable and secure, although there is now very little protection in that area from rocks that you might encounter on rugged routes. The toe cap is also much thinner than before, so these shoes are best for speed on trails that are not exceptionally rugged or technical. I will be wearing them up and down Pikes Peak, but those are just about the most difficult trails I would trust these for; many other 14er’s with more sharp rocky trails might be a no-go in these. However, with that said, they serve their purpose so far very well. I will also mention that the forefoot midsole feels like something new as opposed to previous versions; quite dense and springy, as if it has some extra rubber mixed it. Feels like it’s going to last for a long, long time. Sweet shoes.
I will follow up in 400 miles or so.
