Almost Perfect . . . However!

Here I am having to return this almost perfect shirt. Why? Just tried on the shirt. Material, comfort and look are truly perfect in so far as perfect can be in this context. I am 5'7"; 160lbs. not overly muscular, just normal body shape of a long-time tennis player. My shirt size is usually medium. After reviewing the size chart I decided on a large. That was a wise decision. The shirt fit almost perfect. Surprisingly, the shirt did not have that extra room I would have expected, being a size large. My estimation in that regard is that the shirt runs smaller than expected. My chest is a 40 and I expected a large would give me the room of a 42-44 chest . . . not the case (Had I purchased a medium, the shirt would have definitely been too small. I was consider trading up to an extra-large, but the neck would have been too roomy and I have no information on the shrinkage percentage (if any) when the shirt is washed. The problem with the large size . . . when extending the arms in a forward reaching position, an immediate tightness in the shoulders and across the back, along with an uncomfortable resistance and tightness in the armpits limited the range of movement to an uncomfortable level to the point, that in my estimation would discourage my looking forward to wearing the shirt (in spite of the positive features mentioned above). There is no enough material in the upper back to allow the arms to reach up and forward comfortably. And the sleeves at the armpit should be restyled to give more room so there is not that uncomfortable tightness gripping the underarm, as well as be lengthen minimum of an inch. There was the consideration of ordering another Roark shirt, but I am thinking that the same issue would be present in similar style/constructed shirts. What to do . . .
