    Nearly Perfect

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x30

I bought both these and the convertibles and they are my "go to's" anytime I go backpacking. I have put these through many miles on and off the trail. They have not disappointed at all. On bushwhacks they have handled thickets of holly and saw briers and scrambles over sandstone ledges and boulders that have ruined other pants. Slogged through soggy bottoms without getting myself a soggy bottom too, which was impressive. Comfortable in subfreezing temps with a lightweight baselayer and on their own when it's 40F plus (the crotch grommets are useless for venting but I don't have an issue with that). The fit was spot on. Choose your jean size and they should match up perfectly. My only complaints are the short zipper (seems even shorter on the convertibles) and the back pockets are useless. If you're a fan of the "tug, pee, and tuck" method you may want to be a little more cautious zipping up or you could wind up in a "There's Something About Mary" situation. The back pockets are not very secure and could use a zip or button so don't even think of putting your wallet in them. Even with that in mind, I still couldn't be happier with the Zion's.

    Like taylor made

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32

So off of previous reviews I purchased a pair of Zion Pants. I am no where near disappointed. They fit as if they were taylor made. Prana puts great quality and detail in their clothes. Thank you Back Country for carrying great products.

    The Right Gear

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 W 30 I

I haven't put a lot of miles on these pants so I'll have to defer to others on durability. I will jump on the bandwagon when it comes to the other aspects of these pants. The Zion DWR fabric is very stretchy and resists moisture. Both very important for back country activities. The fit and design are spot on. After getting my first pair I went a head and purchased a second.

Pocket configuration, the integrated belt and the fabric weight are the best compared to other quality pants I use for similar outdoor activities.

    Prana has a winner here.

    These are awesome

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33 x 30

I normally climb in the South where it is hot all the time. But this Christmas I went up North. I needed a pair of pants to climb in a gym, well because climbing in your underwear is frowned upon in most places.
These pants fit me perfectly. They are just a little stretchy so you can stretch them a little. And I am only a little stretchy myself. I don't yoga in case you were wondering.
I had a button pop off within the first month. Backcountry hemmed and hawed a little about replacing them because I bought them on sale. So I just called Prana directly, and Prana replaced them.

    Awesome

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 32x30

Really great pants, run a little long though. I usually wear a 32x32 but had to go down a size to 32x30 as they were really long. Great pants, baggier than I usually wear but really light and comfortable.

    The Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large 32

You must have read my review on the shorts. Good job, you're smarter than a certain wool shirt.

Got my first pair of these bad boys years ago. They've been through the wringer. They're my every day pants, climbing pants, hiking pants, backpacking pants, comfy wear them on the plane pants, I haven't done laundry in a month *sniff* they don't smell too bad pants.

I see people climb in jeans all the time and I'm mystified. Stymied. I wonder why they don't grow up and head to Zion. These pants are stretchy, breathable, a hit with the laides, and probably in no small part to the super hip cuff roll up snap feature to keep your cuffs out of the way of your sick heel hooks.

I have four pairs of these pants and will probably weep if they ever discontinue them. But then, why would they? Right?

    Favorite pants year round

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I live in the PNW, and when I'm not - I'm traveling to areas where breathability and durability are must haves for clothing. These are also my favorite pants for climbing 0 I own several pairs.

These pants are excellent for rock climbing, long hikes with moderately cool or cold weather, gym sessions, snow shoe trips (layered), snowy days, rainy days, parent-teacher conferences, dinner, brunch, travel, airports, etc. These pants feel and look great no matter where you are or are going.

If it's hot - I recommend getting the shorts - these are some of the most versatile pants for travelers and people who spend time outdoors doing little or many activities.

    Light, but warmer than expected

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30x30

I'll start off by saying that one of the snaps for rolling up the pant legs broke immediately when testing it out. I haven't bothered to try the other one for fear of it breaking too. That doesn't bode well for the durability of these pants in my mind. The snaps are cheap plastic.

The pants are pretty light, but are surprisingly warm. I wore them in 40F windy weather with a pair of thermals underneath and they were pretty good at keeping me from getting cold. The waist cinch is great for adjusting the size to fit snugly, the pockets are nicely sized, not overly large.

The ability to roll up the pant legs in warmer weather is nice. You can only roll them to mid-calf though, and have to be very gingerly with the cuff snaps. They will break very easily.

They dry relatively quickly, and aren't heavy at all when wet.

The $80+ price tag is a bit high in my opinion, especially considering how easily a part of them broke already.

    Good all around pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32X30

Bought these for my husband. Here is what he had to say--
These pants are great for just about anything. I wore them climbing and hiking so far. Great range of motion and love the snaps on the legs for use when climbing. Worn in the winter only so far so not sure how they are in the spring yet. I would highly recommend this product. "

Great pants, but not for thick-legged

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Being on the thicker legged end of the spectrum, one of my biggest concerns when buying pants is whether they have enough room for my legs. While the fabric is stretchy, the pants did fit a bit snug on my legs.
Other than fit concerns, these pants are the best hikers in my closet. Durable and weather resistant, I have no hesitation in using these in any kind of conditions. Do yourself a favor and get more than one of these.

    Favorite pants!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 40-32

Very comfortable and stretchy, the waist has an awesome adjustable strap, eliminating the need for a belt. Keeps me warm when Traveling to colder parts of California, yet still keeps me cool in the Deserts of Arizona. Awesome pants

    Best pants ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Who would ever wear denim when you have a couple pair of these pants! By far the best all around pants I've ever worn! Give them a try and you won't want to wear anything else!

Hiking Pants for all but the hot days

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 38/32

Have always worn Columbia Silver Ridge Convertibles when backpacking, but wanted to get a thicker fabric pant for colder weather. The reviews for these pants have mostly been great so... Excellent design, good fabrics, could use a second cargo pocket. I would give them 5 stars, but the newer version is too long. The old S M L XL had accurate length for the inseams. The newer version seems to be an inch longer for the same measurement, which isn't a problem with boots on but I am stepping on them without boots on.. I'd go down a length with these. Water resistant coating a plus, and they do look great.

    Perhaps THE perfect hiking pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Great, flattering and functional cut on these everyday, year-round hikers. Thick enough to provide wind and chill resistance, but thin enough to be super breathable for summer hikes as well. SUPER fast-drying fabric, hides dirt tremendously well, doesn't wrinkle, and looks great on the mountain or on the town.

    The reviews are true...

    • Size Bought: 33x34

I got these pants for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is an avid climber/hiker and I bought these pants based on the reviews. He is obsessed with them! He loves the stretch of these pants and how versatile they are for different climates. I'm already considering buying him another pair in another color. As well, shout out to Backcountry for being such an awesome company. I exchanged the pant size (my boyfriend wanted them slightly bigger so he could better utilize the belt the pants have) and they were incredibly helpful. Love these pants, love this company!

    Bomb-Proof

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 28X30

I have had these pants for 3-4 months and I love them. After about a month of owning them I bought 3 more pairs. I have gone bouldering, sport climbing, ice climbing and skiing in these pants. They are seriously durable I have only managed to make a small rip on them by kicking a crampon into them. The water resistance on these is awesome. I went skiing and put on long underwear and the Prana Stretch Zion Pant as the outer layer. Bottom line stop reading this and buy them now, they are well worth the price.

    Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

    Unanswered Question

    Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
    Hope not, they were perfect...

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

    Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

    Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

I want to buy these for my husband but how can you tell which inseam is which? He is a 32X30

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to find the claimed weight of this pants?

    I'm a 33 waist 32 length. 6'0'' 200lbs. What would you recommend for sizing?

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.

Do I read the sizing info correctly that S-34 would be a 31" inseam, 34" waist? Or is it the other way, an M-30 would be 34" waist, 30" inseam?
