Backwoods Snowboard

The aptly named Backwoods is a pow and tight tree hound for riders who love pointing it , but also ride more technical, big mountain lines as well. This versatility is achieved by taking a typical directional powder shape with a wider nose, narrow tail, and set back stance, and then throwing in a stiffer-than-expected flex. This makes for excellent float in deep pow while providing the stability needed to rail hard turns on bigger faces. Toss in a snappy, lightweight core, triax wrap, and carbon stringers, and you're set with a board that matches your aggressive riding style.

  • Freeride board that rips pow fields, tight trees, and big lines
  • Directional shape holds an edge and floats exceptionally well
  • Mid-stiff flex blends powder control with stability on edge
  • Short camber section and pronounced rocker floats and edges well
  • Poplar and bamboo core mixes sustainability and rideability
  • Durable polymide topsheet sheds snow to keep you from bogging down
  • Easily repairable sintered base keeps you cruising all day long
  • Weston snowboards are handmade in Minturn, Colorado

This thing rips!!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just finished up my first day riding the Weston Backwoods. I was riding the 160 version of the board (I am 6' 1" and weigh about 175) and holy cow, this board is a blast. Conditions were pretty ideal when I took it up to Brighton resort. Bluebird day with 11" of snow in the past 24 hours, so plenty of soft stuff to rip and slash this baby through. Coming from a pure camber, true twin freestyle board, it took me a run to get used to the hybrid rocker-camber of the Backwoods. It definitely has playful feel across all surfaces, but it is especially pronounced in the powder. The board delivers a floaty, surfy feel with fairly easy turn initiation. It was nimble enough to breeze through the trees and provided decent pop going over side hits, kickers, and natural features. Even on groomed runs this board ripped pretty hard. It had no issues making carved turns across the runs. Edges felt pretty secure throughout the turns. And when I wanted to point the nose down the hill, the board responded with smooth speed. The style of the board is fantastic. I got multiple compliments on the look of the board just carrying it around. Bottom line, this is a true all-mountain board. While it's best used in powder, it handles all the conditions I threw at it with ease and rewarded me with a fun, joyful ride. It is certainly capable of being a single quiver, go-to, everyday board for someone looking to rip and have fun on the slopes.
