Pressure free? Size up or don't bother..

I don't get it. Size chart says 9-11.5 for L, which is what I ordered as I wear an 8.5 to 9.5 in virtually every shoe and boot I own. These socks fit snugly but comfortably on the foot itself but the pressure on the calf is ridiculous. I'd send a pic along but not sure anyone wants to see that. They remind me of compression socks I've worn on airplanes to reduce swelling. Honestly, I am not a short, stocky guy nor do I have thick calves. If you have to have these socks, size up. Having the same experience with Smartwool Performance Outdoor Ultra Light Crew Sock (review to come). Fit well on the foot but pressure on the calf is too much. Size UP, people!!
