Can't speak to longevity yet, but they are really comfortable and a nice warm base layer for cold days in the mountains.

My new favorite cold weather base layer. Great fit and the quality of construction is just so good. The wool actually encases the ankle and waist areas so no uncomfortable elastic against your skin and/or cold spots. Smartwool products just keep getting better. These along with a Smartwool long sleeve top are my go-to combo when I get home from a cold road bike ride. The combo of wicking and warmth do wonders to ditch the post-ride chill. I purchased a large and am very happy with the fit. Worth noting that I wear a size medium in Smartwool tops, but have larger than average glutes/thighs.

Every Smartwool product I've bought has been of the highest quality in material, workmanship, comfort, performance, fit, and style. These base layer bottoms are no exception. As soon as you take them out of the bag, you instantly know they are, indeed, an "investment piece." They're hefty but very soft. They fit perfectly, and they are so comfy I exclaimed out loud when I put them on. It was such a pleasure wearing them that I kept them on all day, as well as the next two days. (My condo is freezing, even when the thermostat says 68 in April.) I bought the dark grey ones, but they have an interesting small pattern, so they look nice and aren't boring. I can't wait to wear them on the slopes next winter! Highly recommended without reservation.

I bought these because my compression pants weren’t doing the trick. I now wear these underneath some cheap joggers with uninsulated snowpants over the top. My knees used to get cold on frigid days but now I’m always warm. They’re tight fitting which is good but if I didn’t have such slim hips these might be a bit tight in Medium (which I have)

Just what I needed as a base layer. Not your grandpappy's wool, they're super soft.

Smartwool doesn't dissapoint. I bought these for my husband and they're his go to for alpine skiing or winter hikes. The heathered color is awesome.

This fit, texture, and material are excellent - exactly what you would expect from Smartwool. These fit very snug - and will not add hardly any bulk, and you can easily layer with them. I would stop short of calling this a true heavyweight base layer. I've taken this out twice now, both times ice climbing in temperatures from 0F-10F, with fierce winds, and spindrift raining down on us. While climbing it felt wonderful and I stayed warm. Belaying was another story, my legs began to get cold, despite wearing a massive parka. Overall I think this is a great baselayer, but you will want to stay moving or pair this with a second baselayer if it's going to be cold, and you expect to be stationary.

I use these for everything from early morning fall hunting to deep winter ski touring. Nothing like a nice pair of merino wool bottoms to keep your lower half toasty warm. Get yourself a couple pair, they're well worth it.

I bought these for my boyfriend for valentines day, and he absolutely loved them. The fit was perfect, and they had enough give that he stayed comfortable and warm even while shredding waist deep powder all day. In short: great fit, soft, good colors, perfect for a full day on the mountain

Warm, great fit

I love my Smartwool mid weight long underwear. The pants are incredible warm and comfortable, and despite my initial fears of buying wool are soft and not-itchy. I can't recommend these guys highly enough.

slipping into my warm, cozy base-layer makes early dawn patrols, or waking up in my bag at 10,000ft a lot more enjoyable. Good tight fit with a warm, natural layer between my and the elements. After 3 years they are in need of mending a few holes.

AMAZING PRODUCT!

Always have the wrong idea on base layers, because of what's in walk in stores, but this amazing pants are out of this world! I've never expected to be so comfortable without been feeling like if I added 10 pounds to each leg, this is light and warm and just right for any kind of cold weather! Doesn't add volume, stays on your waist as it should, and stays dry where it has be dry 😜.
