Rubber folding top cracked and failed
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The rubber part that folds at the top of the bag, sealing it when folded, cracked after just a few months, rendering the pack useless for waterproofing. The cause was quite obvious material failure - seemed like the rubber degraded, dried and lost elasticity causing it to break into pieces. The bag was not exposed to the sun, or caustic environments, nor was it washed with any detergents. Nor did it sustain any physical abuse. The rubber failed, plain and simple. Its a pity, because the rest of the bag is very well built.
