    To the trail and beyond.

Salomon designed the Women's X Ultra Mid 2 GTX Hiking Boots with support, stability, and protection for the grand adventures. Gore-Tex Performance Comfort protects this boot with reliable waterproof capability that remains breathable for year-round comfort. The boot's SensiFit upper cradles your foot to ensure a precise and secure feel, and its Ortholite sockliner wraps your foot in a cushy foam that creates a cooler, drier, healthier, and altogether more comfortable hike.

Salomon equipped the X Ultra with a high performance, lightweight Advanced Chassis midsole, which combines injected EVA with molded EVA to maximize motion control, energy management, and push-through protection. Its ContaGrip sole delivers optimal traction on varied surfaces. The X Ultra also features a gusseted tongue to keep out debris, a protective rubber toe cap for rocks, and a mud guard to keep things clean..

    Not a fan of a mid-boot apparently

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

For me, I found the shoe too narrow in my mid-foot area. Not only that, but the upper would put pressure on my ankles painfully even with wool hiking socks on, and the arch support was too much. My arches felt incredibly sore just doing a test walk in them. Like I was walking with two large stones strapped to my arches. Unfortunately, I had to return them.

But just because these shoes did not agree with my feet, doesn't mean they aren't a high-quality boot. I'm sure they are amazing for the right feet.

    Love em.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My friend says "Love these shoes, I took them out on a slick winter hike and never even put my crampons on for the way up. With wool socks my feet stayed plenty toasty and never felt even remotely wet. They are really comfy-they feel just like my Salomon trail runners but a little higher with light ankle support."

    Out of the Box Perfection

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've never had a boot fit so well right out of the box. My first hike was a spring hike in Utah through muddy terrain. I intended on just going a few miles, but my feet felt so good I did an entire 8 mile loop without a problem. My feet stayed dry and were very comfortable!

I have a mid volume foot. The toe box was roomy and comfortable. The heel pocket was snug keep my foot in place on descents.

I use this as a boot for day hikes with a medium to light pack (sub 20 pounds). I have a weak right ankle and this boot gives me more than enough support.

I wear a 7 in everything and stuck with that size on this boot. Couldn't be happier!

    Comfortable and Roomy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got these as multi-use hiking boots for weekend backpacking trips and casual hikes. These fit true to size, are comfortable, and I can tell the gore-tex will be a welcome feature when I use them this spring.

Great boot for the John Muir Trail

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These boots are the perfect mix between trail runners and hiking boots--just what I was looking for on my JMT thru hike. They provide ankle support and are waterproof enough, while still being relatively light.

These boots are extremely comfortable and generally well made. I had one issue: once, when I was tightening the laces, the top grommet popped off (why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars).

Besides that small defect, I loved these boots. I am usually a 6 or 6.5 and my feet are on the wider side, and I opted for the 6.5's to get a little extra space for the socks, and they fit perfectly with liners and hiking socks.

    They're okay

I feel they're a little hard to break in, and last hiking trip...they tore up my feet pretty bad. They're good width wise though, and I love that since my wittle feeties are so wide. I think after wearing these awhile I will probably love them when they get broken in, but for right now...they're meh.

Repping my Salomon boots in Iceland

These shoes have been my to go for hiking through the extremes of rock, snow, and rain. There was no break in period, and my feet have never blistered since I got my Salomons.

Repping my Salomon boots in Iceland

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 8.5
    • Height: 5'9"

I have had these boots for about a month now and have worn them fat biking in the snow in -20 windchill and hiking in Death Valley CA where temps were about 50 degrees. My feet have never been more comfortable. They remained dry while biking in the snow and warm (wore two pair of socks and gators over top) and not too warm in the warmer temps. They did not even need to be broken in! Very comfortable with excellent arch support (I have high arches so struggle with this). May run slightly wide but that allows you to wear a couple pairs of socks if needed. Great ankle support. 100% happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.

    A gift for my GF

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I got these for my gf and since she's had them, I've heard nothing but how comfortable they are. They also look really good in my opinion. She hasn't really gone anywhere too insane that would really test the Goretex but as far as long, rocky alpine hikes, they seem to be working out very well.

    Hike On!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Took a chance on these on a recent trip down to Moab, I usually favor lower cut boots because my ankles tend to run against the sides which after some mileage is quite painful. However I wanted these for warmer temps and liked that they were light weight. I prepped my feet with athletic tape on any blister prone areas and after 17 miles of hiking on the first day my feet were still cruising pretty well with a little pain on one ankle but I kind of expected that since that foot is smaller. They were awesome on all sorts of terrain from very loose sand, to rock climbing to the more rugged trails. They are very comfortable and look great as well. Fit true to size but if you plan on wearing thick socks I might go up 1/2 a size. Highly recommend these!

    Good for work and play!

I am an Environmental Scientist and work outdoors in desert terrain frequently and sometimes in triple digit heat! These boots are lightweight, true to size , provide good ankle and arch support and do not overheat. I am yet to take them on a lengthy hike , though i wear them to work daily, but am confident they'll do just fine.

    Initial Review - Awesome!

The stuff that I loved about these boots right out of the box:

    - they're super light
    - they're nice and flexible
    - the soles look BOMB
    -they look pretty sharp

I put them through the paces straight out of the box with an 8-mile backpacking trip complete with nice trail, water crossing, beater trail and a crapton of scree. In all conditions, they performed admirably! Especially on rock; the soles are awesome as far as not being able to feel pokey stuff under your feet and great grip for how light and comfy they are.

They really don't need a break-in period as far as I'm concerned... I had no discomfort and no hot spots even with them being brand new and under the stress of a full pack and a hot day!

Don't get these boots if you want bomber support and a stiff boot. As far as I can tell, they're like a mid-rise trail runner with the sole of a great boot, which is exactly what I wanted. I don't need or want a ton of ankle support and I prefer lightweight flexibility in a boot so I don't feel like I'm walking on a brick and I have good ground-feel.

Runs true to size, perhaps a tiny bit long, which is perfect for me because I'm at the biggest end of a size 10 (I'd say it fits like a size 10.25, which is perfect for backpacking). The toe box is nice and roomy but the heel is snug, and they have fantastic arch support and cushion.

All in all, so far, I love them!!

    The Best hiking boots!

    • Fit: True to size

This is my first and the best hiking boots! Very comfortable for a week in the Rockies. Perfect with a hiking socks. Easy to clean after a trip. It might be better to buy +0.5 of size because of a foot swelling during a long adventure with backpack.

    No break in period!

These are perfect for year-round and high mile use. Right out of the box, they went on a 40 mile winter grand canyon backpacking trip with no hot spots or blisters! Other then comfort, they breath great and are very light weight . I would highly recommend this boot!

    Best women's boot

This boot is second to none in women's hiking boots. Lightweight and breathable partnered with incredible traction. Through, rock, sand and mud they've held up flawlessly. They fit and feel like a tennis shoe, great for a more snug fit. Runs a little long. Best boot I've found for a woman's foot. No "break in" period!!

I bought this for my wife not too long ago and she loves them. We have taken them on long hikes and her feet always feel great. She thinks they have great arch support and breathability. Would buy again.
