A lightweight hiking boot with crossover appeal, the Salomon Cross Hike 2 GTX provides reliable waterproofing and nimble performance. That waterproofing is courtesy of the boot's GORE-TEX membrane— which seals out moisture while letting moisture vapor escape—and the mid-cut uppers, which also add weather protection with their anti-debris mesh. With a light and agile build, the Cross Hike 2 is comfortable on urban trails while Salomon's Contragrip outsoles can take on tougher terrain with lugs that dig into muddy trails and provide braking power on steep descents, where most serious falls occur.

Updated features
The loop on the back. Much better than the old one. 4 eyelits also better. Wider toe is very subtle difference

It's good
Nice shoe. Wasn't looking for ankle support and this provided the cover of a high top. Got wet after 4 hours in the rain but is a comfortable solid shoe. I bet the non wide would've been too narrow as this doesn't seem super wide if you have wide feet this is a must

A Few Tweaks Will Make It Better
Sprained my ankle, severely, a few months ago. Podiatrist told me to wear and ankle brace and high-top shoes for orienteering. This "mid" shoe was the closest to a high-top orienteering shoe I could find. The top of the shoe - the "mid" - provides no support whatsoever! Had to use a velcro strap to pull the top of the shoe tight above the ankle to provide support. Shoe fits well. Good orienteering shoe due to deep lugs!

Great featured boot
I feel that this boot was well thought out prior to manufacturing. The traction is superb, the laces just pull up and hide easily, and the best part is that the loop on the back makes it even easier to get your foot in and out of. I have a wide foot, so make sure you order a WIDE, the others are too narrow.

Comfortable and light but has some issues
For some reason the lacing system on this shoe continually loosens throughout the day. I have tried everything and there is no way to stop it from happening. Additionally the toungue of the shoe stays pushed out and will collect debris as you go. Even while wearing pants that cover the top the shoe it will work its way outside of the pant leg. Overall a nice shoe but has those two issues.

Very pleased!
Had these shoes about a month now and used often. I am size 10 wide. 5’11”. 205 lbs. Wide foot. Shallow toe box. Use on trails with many wet, slippery rocks/roots and on all other surfaces slightly less. I wear medium thickness socks with them usually. They slide on my feet surprisingly easy. I am really pleased with the fit. The sole grip is sufficient enough for the wet rocks. I am sure it is not the most “grippy” but feel like I would sacrifice durability if it was an exceptional grip. I am always pleased with how durable the rest of the shoe feels and what I’ve come to expect from Salomon. Very pleased with the purchase. Side note: Would love to see more wide shoes/boot options

Beautiful craftsmanship
Bought these babies for a road trip out to Zion National Park. They preformed greatly and are still kicking for more.
