Salewa Mtn Trainer 2
I’ve used several types of boots and decided to this try this pair. I will be using these for backpacking and early season hunting. They’re light weight and comfortable while still providing support for steep and rough terrain.

Too stiff and heavy
Hi, I got this boot but it happens to be much more stiff than I expected. I want something lighter for a one day hikes, would you recommend me Mountain trainer lite, Alp trainer or Alp mate mid? Thanks

Ordering these boots again! I have worn them for many miles over the years. These are the boots you want if you are putting in miles under heavy pack load outs and they really excel in rough, rocky, terrain and mountains. They keep you dry and comfortable. I’ve been comfortable in these boots everywhere from the Appalachian mountains of Virginia and Western NC to the mountains out west, in Canada and the SW USA deserts.

I wanted a pair of hiking the mountains that offered good ankle support. These fit the bill. They are si comfortable out of the box. I did go up a 1/2 and they fit perfectly. They are light weight and the color is great. Perfect traction!! Would buy again!

Horrible design flaws. Otherwise this boot is absolutely great.
I bought them less than a year back, and i've used them less than 20 times. First off, they've got very evident design flaws, i dont know why i bought them in the first place tbh, I guess it's because they felt great. The thing is you should NEVER run textile fabric onto other textile fabric because friction wears it off, and this boot plainly ignores that. The shoe laces will run through all the strings that hold them in place in no time, especially that one lace that sits on the interior side of the ankle. That being said, i haven't used them enough yet for this to become an issue, which i expected to occur in 2-3 years of usage. So what happened? Those orange strings which laces go through are glued in between layers of other fabric so nothing other than GLUE holds them tight in place. Guess what happens... yup, they come lose and there's no way to tighten them up. This is what happened to me, that tiny orange string came off. Briliant design, guys, it surely came out pretty (if that's all what you were going for). I'm sending them back. Other than that the boot feels great, it's agile and solid, fits very well and can adapt perfectly, and it's very comfortable and safe to hike with. Such a pity these stupid flaws ruin this great product so badly, they make it useless and they dishonor the brand. It's intolerable to find these low IQ problems at this price ranges. Just so you know, i'm not buying salewa boots ever again, god knows what you'll miss the next time.

Light and Comfortable out of the box
I fall between size 11 and 10.5. I tried both and went with the 11. The boots come with an optional shim to place under the footbed - I installed this as it makes the fit a little more snug on the top of the foot. No blisters when walking around bedding in. Boots look great! The sole is quite hard - like a typical hiking boot - soles of feet sore when walking around on paved surfaces. Hopefully not so harsh when hiking on softer terrain.
