Xavier de le Rue isn't your average snowboarder. In fact, the French madman is best known for riding the steepest, scariest lines on the planet where falling simply isn't an option. The Rossignol XV Magtek Snowboard is his vehicle for pushing the boundaries of what's possible on big-mountain lines with serious exposure and variable snow conditions.
Designed for Xavier's aggressive riding style, the XV Magtek features a directional shape with 10-millimeters of taper and small tail cut-out for ample float when you're attacking big-mountain lines. This freeride specialist has a Reverse Super Directional Flex, meaning it's extremely stiff under the front binding with a stiff mid-section that mellows out as you work towards the tail. This flex pattern provides confident control for driving powerful turns, allowing you to negotiate steeps and high-speeds without chatter.
Featuring Rossignol's AmpTek All-Mountain profile, you'll find camber underfoot with rocker in the tip and tail. When you break it down, the board is 40% camber and 60% rocker (30% rocker at each tip) for effortless float at high speeds with aggressive edge hold underfoot, especially when you factor in the board's claw-like Magne-Traction 7M edges. New for this year, Rossignol added their Roller Base tech to the tip and tail. This technology raises the base edge of the tip and tail by one millimeter. This subtle 3D shaping directs snow around the board's tips for silky-smooth powder turns without plowing.
Inside this big-mountain charger, you'll find a THC CBF2 core that's crafted with two types of wood laminated with three Microcell beams and two strips of basalt along the edges. This specialized core provides extra dampening and a super-stiff flex that begs to be ridden hard and fast. Rounding out the board's impressive features is a sintered 7500 base that readily absorbs wax for lightning-fast performance.
