The Delta Skating NIS Ski is possibly the most versatile option in the Rossignol cross-country arsenal. It's built with a slightly larger sweet spot than Rossignol's hardcore race ski, the X-ium. This means you'll get a more forgiving experience if you're still trying to refine your skating technique (and who isn't?) But its added glide quality and stability doesn't come at the expense of performance. The Delta Skating comes with the same K7000 base tuning you'll find on the World Cup-ready X-ium.
If you've spent time studying the Rossignol skate ski lineup, you've probably noticed the slightly more costly Delta Course Skating NIS. How does the Delta compare? The primary differences are that the Delta Course uses Rossignol's Honeycomb Light core and a one-layer carbon laminate. By comparison, the Delta uses a standard Honeycomb core and a fiberglass laminate. As a result, the Delta is marginally heavier (by 30g) but has the benefit of a softer flex, making it an ideal choice for skiers still focused on fine-tuning their skating motion.
Details
- ActivCap construction gives the Delta dynamic behavior. The tip and tail have freedom to float so the ski will glide freely over uneven terrain. Rossignol refers to this as 'the snake effect.' This complements the multi-directional fiberglass construction that gives the ski torsional rigidity throughout its length and enhanced directional stability
- Extended Edge construction supplements the Delta’s overall torsional rigidity, giving you extra stability and maximum power during your kick
- The Double Groove base helps stabilize your ski during the glide phase, allowing it to track straight and fast regardless of its position on the snow
- Rossignol states that a pair of 186’s weighs around 1200g. The Delta has Identical sizing to the X-ium: 44mm top and 43mm waist and tail
- The Rossignol NIS System uses a factory-bonded plate on top of the ski to give you an integrated mounting point for a NIS-compatible Nordic binding. Rossignol offers two binding options for the Delta. The Xcelerator Skate NIS binding has the widest platform and allows maximum power and stability. Make sure to choose an NNN boot, since other versions won't be compatible with the NIS binding Rossign
- Additionally, Rossignol recommends use of its X500, X650, or X700 poles with the Delta
