I'm a photographer, so I bought these gloves. They are not warm, so I use them for spring and fall shoots where I just need a little protection from wind and mildly col temps. I like them because of the grip on them. I don't feel like I'm going to drop my camera and I can feel the camera through the thin glove. Don't buy this if you're looking for cold weather gear, but it's a good glove to have to protect without getting in the way for spring or fall. As for size, I'm a woman who usually takes a large or extra large women's glove and the men's large fits just slightly big.

      Not terribly warm

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small

These are great fitting gloves with fair dexterity. Only really warm enough for fall temperatures though.

      Great idea, bad glove.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small

First, these things run way small. I ordered a pair and then had to send them back and get the XLs which were pretty snug as well. I love the design of these gloves; it's a great idea. I used them for there intended purpose as I am a photographer. That being said, these things are NOT warm. I used them twice at temps around 45-50. No help. They were great after I slipped on some smartwool liners underneath, and thus defeating the purpose of these gloves. So, if you feel the need to wear gloves in the summer, these are for you, otherwise, keep looking.

      Such a great idea

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

These gloves live up to the hype. They will give you all the freedom you need to keep the shoot going while not freezing your hand off! Gone are the days of frostbitten hands while waiting to get the perfect shot. I use them while snapping flicks and vids in the backcountry hell, I even like to use them to use my phone or adjust the music while skiing. These are simple and effective.

Not warm at all and run way small.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these because they were said to keep hands warm down to somewhere around 25-35 degrees (can't remember the specific number off the top of my head). However, when wearing in 35 degree weather I felt they made my hands colder than going without them. It was almost as if it let cold air in and trapped it there.

On top of that, the XL fits more like a L, possibly even a bigger M.

I really wanted to like these gloves as I really liked the way the fingers could fold open for precision hand usage. The quality of the glove looks and seems nice, and I'm sure it'd be a great glove in slightly less cold of weather. But just have nothing positive to say otherwise.

Ultimately I ended up just taking my gloves off and not wearing them at all the rest of the day that I was going to depend on them.

Are the thumb/pointer finger tips removable...

Are the thumb/pointer finger tips removable on both the left and right glove? The photos only show the right glove from what I can tell. Is there a pocket on both gloves as well?

I am looking for a glove to wear when...

I am looking for a glove to wear when shooting photos, do you think the Pho-Tog, or Transfilmer is the better choice?

I don't know how much of a difference you'll find. The lack of a full pointer finger on the Transfilmer is a major point against for me, but I also am concerned about the fold away finger tips. If you keep those tight when you're not shooting, they're awesome.
