    From grimy to shiny.

Your drivetrain will thank you for giving it some well-deserved attention and care with Pedro's Pig Pen Drivetrain Maintenance Kit. Once you're out spinning on a clean drivetrain, you'll thank yourself, too. If you've been feeling grime and dirt slowly turn your once-slick chain sloppy and dull, use the included Chain Pig chain cleaner to get rid of grease. After a coat of Pig Juice degreaser, a scrub from the Pig itself, and a shot of Chainj lube, your hardworking drivetrain will be sparkly and smooth again, and you'll be as happy as a pig on a bicycle.

    Easy to use, fool-proof tool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Have had the Pig Pen for about a month. Simple to use.. not much to say about it. Works as designed for me and now my chain is sparkling clean!

Great tool - With one design suggestion

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned the pig for about 6 months and have found it to be a great product. Put the little silver hook on your derailleur, snap on the top half, fill up to the line with degreaser, and then spin the pedals backwards for a bit until your chain sparkles. Pretty simple and very effective. You will still have to use a towel afterwards and scrub off the last little faint wisps of dirt/grease if you want to eat off of your chain, but no tool is going to get you to that level of clean while the chain is still on your bike.

My one design suggestion is to improve the strength of the plastic snap arms (one on each side that have a circle at the end that catch on the other half to keep the thing closed around the chain). One broke off a couple of months after I started using the pig and then the other snapped within a week or two after that. Since they both broke off, I simply hold the pig closed with my hand and it still works just fine. It isn't enough of a bother to lay out the cash for a new one, but it is a weak point for the device that, if possible, I'd love to see improved. Even given this design flaw, I think the product is worth the initial investment and I enjoy using it.

There are two kinds of riders

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Those that have a Pig Pen and those that don't.
If you're reading this, you probably don't have one. You've probably just finished cleaning your drivetrain with some Park degreaser in a teacup and your kid's old toothbrush and you're thinking 'Yeah, that's super clean, but I wonder...'
So now you have some options. You can keep lying to yourself and telling yourself that you can't do any better. You could pay some chain jockey at the local shop to clean your bike for you while you go get your Maserati detailed and drink your Iced Milk Chocolate Melted Truffle Mocha. You could get some ordinary brushy clip on chain cleaner gizmo and clean your chain.
Or you could man up, clip a big pink plastic pig to your chain as your wife and children gawk at you in awe and clean and lube your chain to silky perfection.

    Item broke after few uses

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The little pegs at the end of this tool broke off after a few chain cleanings. Bought the item in March and at the end of April this tool has become useless.

Send Pedro's an email describing the problem and they'll send you a new one. However, the new one will probably also break, since both the hinges at the back of the cleaner and the tabs that lock the top closed are very prone to failure, I have two of these and they're both broken, one at the rear hinge, and the other which has both locking tabs broken off. It's a shame that this cleaner was so poorly designed, since it does a really good job cleaning the chain, at least until it breaks.

    pretty useful

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The only thing I dislike about this is that the little hook, meant to attach to the derailleur doesn't seem to work that well, but it isn't a big deal to hold the contraption while spinning the pedals.
