Snow Drifter 30L Backpack

For long days in the backcountry and minimalist overnight missions you've got the Patagonia Snow Drifter 30L Backpack. Designed to work seamlessly with you during touring expeditions, this pack provides efficient storage and backcountry-specific features to meet the demands of human chairlifts everywhere.

This mountain-ready pack has multiple carry options that accommodate both skis and snowboards, so you can keep your hands free when you're making your way up steep summit bootpacks. Burly ripstop fabric ensures long-lasting durability in rough terrain, while the PU coating and DWR finish keep your gear dry when unexpected snow hits. The U-shaped lid makes packing and accessing gear easy, and when you've got something buried deep in your pack there's a zippered back panel so you can quickly find it without having to root through your whole bag. There's also a spacious avalanche-tool compartment for quick access to your most important gear, and an external helmet carry that lets you bring along your headgear with no extra hassle.

Mesh on the shoulder straps, back panel, and waist belt promotes breathability to keep you from getting drenched with sweat when you're huffing it to the top, and the hydration-compatible design lets you bring along a water reservoir to keep yourself hydrated as you're working hard. This pack also has plenty of extra space for backcountry meals, extra layers, and whatever else you need for all-day missions in the mountains.

Must buy for ski/snow sports

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It’s an awesome pack that is pretty big in size. It has a nice texture and could fit pretty much any kind of clothing/hat. It could easily fit a portable snow shovel, beacon, and probe + more. If you possibly want to use it for travel, it’s possible, just the bottom waist/hip strap is not removable so keep that in mind but it is totally duable. The backpack could easily carry skis/snowboards and has so much customization options(ex. keychains, harnest carriers, carabiner holders. If you want to take it for hiking or for a MTB trip, I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work. There’s a small hole for a water hose comparability. If you want a good pack for skiing in the backcountry pick this, or if you want a more on resort pack go with the 20L, but of course the 30L has ALOT of space.

meh, not super impressed but good bag

It arrived without the chest strap, major pain in the rear to locate one through Patagonia since BC couldn't do much else but replace, only they were out...This pack is easy to use and well laid out, however the overall fit-n-finish is NOT what I expected based on reviews or the fact that its a Patagonia. Materials feel cheap and absorb water really easily...its cool that its made largely from recycled materials. Also some things that need to be reinforced simply are not and all ski attachments are flimsy.
