Wading the perfect mountain stream is one of fly fishing's great pleasures, but even in the summer months the water is still chilly. Keep your feet warm when you dip into crisp waters with the Patagonia Neoprene Socks With Gravel Guard. The neoprene insulates your feet to keep it from going numb, and the gravel guard keeps out pebbles and other debris you might kick up while wading across rocky creeks.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't know about cold feet, as I used these in New Zealand in the middle of their summer. I will admit, my feet got hot enough to need a soak and cold enough to need a sun dry during the trip, but they worked perfectly. Helped me fill my wading boots while wet wading. I wear a size 12 boot and an XL was snug on my foot. Fit is almost exact to the booty on my Redington waders. I didn't have time to exchange or reorder to see if an XXL was what I needed, but I was comfortable in the XL the duration of the trip and won't be returning them. Not knowing how long these things last is what keeps them from a 5 star rating. I only used them for two weeks of daily New Zealand wet wading.

    You Won't Get Cold Feet

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are pretty sweet. They're thick neoprene so they keep you warm even in super cold water and the bottom is textured to prevent your foot from sliding around too much in your boot.

    So Nice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These Patagonia wet wading socks are great! They are nice and thick, love the lace hook, and keep your feet warm in those cold mountain stream waters. They do run small, so I would recommend going up a size. I normally wear a 12 so I got the XL, but I ended up needing the XXL. Overall though, awesome pair of wet wading socks for those hot summer days that you don't want to be out there sweating in your waders.

    Fishy socks!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

One thing you should keep in mind when looking for wading socks is the thickness of the neoprene. These are 3.5mm thick. Thats why all the other reviews talk about how toasty they are... No big deal. BUT! Most full waders come with a 3.5 thick sock sewed into them. If you buy a cheeper pair they may only be around a 2.5mm thick or less and then your boats that you bought with your waders may feel a little loose..

They are very true to fit. I have a large and wear a 10.5 shoe. They are snug but comfortable to hike around in all day..

    Happy fishing!

    An Awesome wet wading sock

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these for those super hot days when I'm wearing shorts and wet wading in the river. The gravel guard is clutch for keeping out those annoying rocks and dirt. If you're looking for something to keep your feet warm and dry in the water look no further.

    Toasty Toes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These things are awesome! I got these before running a river in northern CO, and I'm sure glad I did because the water was really really cold in the spring and these kept my toes super warm! I don't know how I would have been able to do it without them. The gravel guard is really nice too so you don't end up with rocks being pressed into your foot all day. I'd recommend these to any river runner, or fly fisher in need of warmer feet on the water!

    Patagonia socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this wet wading up little streams with just shorts on and these socks keep my feet super warm! Even when they fill up with water I dont feel a drop in temperature.

    Nice product

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've got big feet. size 15. And these do not fit a size 15 perfectly, but it's the closest I've been able to find. the product is typical Patagucci quality (ie very good), and they seem to work great. they have a texture on the bottom of the outside of the sock for inside the boot, and a hook to attach the top of the rolled down sock to your boots. No softies inside the sock itself, just straightforward neoprene. Enjoy!
Oh yeah, some people don't like the trout branding, I think it's kinda cool. Looks nice. Not huge on the sock...

    Fits small feet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My girlfriend wears a size 6 1/2 (womens) shoe and the size small fit her foot well without being too bulky in her boots. She really liked the socks for wet wading while backpacking in the Uintas.

    Finally a XS wading Sock!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was stoked to see these came in an XS. I have loved my other wet wading socks but they were always a bit too bulky with extra material. With the XS I get the fit and performance! These kept my toes warm in all the summer water I was in. No pressure points and great fit. Recommended for anyone looks to have a sock that will last and work out on the water during the warm months.

    Great Wet Wade Option

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wet wading the Yampa and Fish Creek in Steamboat was fantastic, but water shoes just dont' cut it. The combination of these booties and wading boots makes a huge difference. Bought a few pairs - also good for taking out newbies in old boots and not having to purchase multiple pairs of waders.
