Comfort in uncomfortable terrain.
On Footwear designed the Men's Cloudventure Midtop Shoe to provide comfort and stability on long trail runs through variable terrain. These shoes have extra stability support, making them a great option for runners who overpronate. On Footwear's signature CloudTec oustoles help offset the jarring force of running downhill after you've bagged your peak, and the Grip-Rubber soles hold traction while you're scrambling through scree fields.

I only have about 20 miles in these but have some initial impressions. The shoes are really well made and should last a long time. I really like the upper and the welded seams. The toe and heel cap are burly and add a lot of protection in those areas. The sole is really unique and so far I like it. I have run on smooth gravel trails and some compacted snow and ice and they grip really well. They feel strange when walking on the road due to the gap in the pods at the back of the heel but this hasn't been noticeable while running. The 6mm drop is nice and what I prefer for trail running. They are moderately cushioned but they feel really still while running. Hopefully they break in after more miles and soften up a little. They also feel heavy on my feet despite being relatively light. Maybe they will feel lighter once they break in a little more. The liner sock is really comfortable and works well as a gaiter that keeps mud and small rocks out of your shoes. I don't think these will be my go to trail runner but I will put them on when I know that I will be getting into scree and on loose trails. They do run large. All of my running shoes are 11.5 and these are a little too big in that size. If I was to purchase again I would buy an 11.0. The laces are way too long but that is easy enough to fix.
