Whoever thought backpacking in winter was a good idea must have had the Nemo Equipment Cosmo Insulated Sleep Pad to keep them nice and comfortable while they slept. Nemo added a layer of PrimaLoft insulation to the durable polyester shell to keep you warmer and cozier than conventional sleeping pads. And even though it stuffs down to about the size of a backpacking stove, this pad's lateral I-beam baffles raise up to about 3.5 inches in order to keep you off the bumpy ground throughout the night. These baffles also offer more support and stability than most conventional sleeping pads, and the pad features a pillow baffle for extra support that doesn't add any weight whatsoever. An integrated foot pump lets your leg do all the work involved with inflating instead of your lungs. Additionally, when you're breaking down camp for a long hike, stuff this pad in its included stuff sack so you can minimize the amount of space it consumes in your pack.

Sorely Disappointed
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- XLW
- Height:
- 5' 9"
- Weight:
- 185
In concept, a thicker, wider and longer sleeping pad would be more comfortable. I have used my Klymit static v insulated pad for years, it popped a couple of times and isn't super comfy, and has been replaced without question, which is nice. So I decided to upgrade to this pad for comfort and durability issues. All I noticed from using it over a week long trip is it is basically an inflatable pool float, there is no real benefit from its thickness, and the valves were leaky. I will be returning this to BC.com and expecting a full refund and to get a new comfort based pad for sea kayaking.
