did I get a defective or newer model?

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this on a 10M run last weekend (and never again). It was 10M of trying to hold the bottle (and trying not to throw it in frustration at a tree). I tried using it the way you are supposed to - my sweaty hand could not grip it, even tightly and with the strap tightened. Maybe a neoprene sleeve would have helped me hold onto it. I even flipped it, and tried putting my hand under the underside straps. No go, until the last mile or so where I used those underside straps but splayed my hand wide to put various fingers under various straps. Also, the tilted mouth didn't work at all for me. It would be better straight on. I had an Amphipod (spelling?) with a tilted mouth that did work. Note: I am a 7-time marathoner, 100+ half marathons, long trail and road runs, been running for 2 decades, so I'm not necessarily inexperienced and just didn't yet "get" how to use the bottle. It did hold ample water although I had to use my teeth to open it (maybe you can just leave it open like the Amphipods?). Bummer!

    Great Bottle!

Picked this up to take to the gym with me, the zipper pouch is great for keeping keys or a work badge - phone probably wont fit. The blast valve is surprisingly GREAT! Easy to pull open and then a little squeeze and you're good to go. Delivers a steady stream quickly - because who has time to fiddle with a nozzle in the middle of the treadmill or even more so - on a run.

      Great Water Bottle

The shape of this water bottle and the strap system make this water bottle super easy and comfortable to run with. I have fairly narrow/skinny hands and the strap gets plenty tight for the bottle to feel secure. The pocket is small, but large enough for cash, ID, and keys; I might be able to squeeze my iPhone X into the pocket if I take the case off, but I'm not taking that chance with a $1000 phone, so I still use an armband for my phone. The strap is easy to get on/off for washing purposes. For me, this size water bottle will get me through 6-13 mile runs depending on the temperature.

      game changer!

Best running related purchase I've made!
      Things I love:
      1. Strap allows you to just slip your hand/thumb in so you don't actually have to grip your hand to the bottle. Saves energy and it's lovely.
      2. Perfect size for 1-8 mile runs. Anything longer, you'd definitely would want either two, have a place to refill, or wear a vest instead.
      3. great colors :)
      4. Easy to drink from -- nice quick squeeze to keep you hydrated
      5. Pocket is great for gels or other small items.

      What could be better:
      1. The pocket size. This is a tough feature. It's super nice to hold smaller items, but anything bigger than an iPhone 6 has no chance of fitting in it. Luckily, I have an iPhone 6 and if I take off my lifeproof case it will just slip in there. But... that means I no longer have protection for my phone which kind of stresses me out, as I am prone to falling and cracking my phone haha. So, if it were slightly bigger that would be ideal, but at that point it might make the bottle too big.

All in all, I love this little bottle. It's so nice for shorter runs where you don't need to focus on hydration too much. It's awesome for cutting down weight. Definitely recommend.

      5K worthy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My wife and I like to run races. She's used this one multiple times when we first started running, but over shorter distances. The part where you fit your hand over the bottle is easy to grip and you can pack a small snack or gels or a smaller iPod - not big enough for a phone though. Nice to have when doing short hikes and even when walking around town in the summer. Bought this one as a gift for my mother-in-law who just started running!
