Revo Ascent Snowshoe

With a combination of external steel teeth and Torsion2 steel crampons, a rugged ExoTract injection-molded plastic deck, and reinforced nose that'll let you step, stomp, and kick your way up the nastiest, slickest terrain around, The MSR Revo Ascent Snowshoe will have you tackling terrain in conditions you didn't think possible. The Revo's PosiLock bindings lock down any type of footwear and give you plenty of support, even on sidehills, and the Ergo Televator heel lift pops up with the flick of a pole to help you make short work of steep climbs. MSR even offers attachable Modular Flotation tails (sold separately), which give you added float in soft snow and boosts the weight capacity of the Ascent by 60 pounds.

Great comfort, hassle to re-strap during hike.

Overall, they're incredibly comfortable snowshoes. However, the main issue I'd return them is that, on a 10-mile hike, at least one of the heel straps came undone every 0.5 miles on average (and at times, multiple times within 100 yards). I had to re-strap them many times, and this became frustrating. I'm looking into a binding system instead that'll prevent this from happening. Would NOT recommend for this reason.

The worst snowshoes I've ever had.

After a year of use, the metal frame at both snowshoes cracked in the same spot, where the plastic front begins. I expect a new improved model coming soon that will be really durable. Greetings from the Czech republic.

I've truly relished my time using these snowshoes. They've been put through their paces, conquering deep Montana powder as well as tackling late-season trails covered in hard-packed ice. One standout feature is the remarkable binding system, which, in my experience, surpasses any other binding I've encountered in terms of ease of use. However, it's worth noting that when navigating icy and rocky terrain, these snowshoes excel in performance but come with one noticeable drawback – they're quite noisy. Sneaking up on anything becomes an impossible feat. One minor inconvenience I've encountered is the necessity to always wear gaiters with these snowshoes. The metal edge, while providing excellent traction, can occasionally feel like a double-edged sword, as it has the potential to catch on the inside of your legs and, more often than not, on your clothing. All in all, despite these minor quirks, my overall experience with these snowshoes has been exceptionally positive, and they have proven their worth in a variety of challenging conditions. Whether conquering deep powder or icy trails, these snowshoes are an outstanding choice.

Best I’ve ever had.

I love these for big ascents in deep snow. Durable, stable, great traction. Not a fan of green and red because they look like Christmas BUT I couldn’t live without them. Maybe make the bindings blue or green in the future.

Great durability and traction

After three seasons using these snow shoes in Alaska I have been impressed at the quality, durability and function. I use these snow shoes for back country travel and hunting in untracked terrain, the add on tails can help depending on snow conditions. The step bars are a great help to save foot stress when climbing steeper slopes. The group of five I travel with all have the same snow shoes and we have only had one breakage of a heel strap in the last three years. When traveling in untracked snow i appreciate the way the snow shoes keep the snow from pushing out the and aid in compaction of the snow under foot to minimize postholing. I will note that the comments about the teeth damaging clothing can occur if the user is not used to keeping their feet apart when snow shoeing. I do not like these snow shoes on packed/heavily used trails that are ice resembling concrete since the frames having the teeth on the outer edge like to flex and I worry about breakage, i would recommend a different style snow shoe or foot wear traction if your travel is on hard packed/ ice trails.

Wyoming approved

The binding system is very good and the snowshoe feels light and has great traction. The ascent bar under the heel is very handy for climbs and easy to engage / disengage. These are noisy would be my only critique. No regrets on this purchase.
