I bought this in two colors for all winter activities. Love the soft fleece on the inside and water proofing on the outside.

Not what I thought it was... but better.
I definitely bought this thinking it was a grid-fleece.... but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out not to be and it turned out to be something more awesome. It cuts the cold high Rockies winter wind with more of a thick soft shell front, but the fabric on the sides breathes pretty well. Bonus: the fleece on the inside is really soft and lovely against the skin. I’ve been using this as my uphill skinning “jacket”... and I haven’t really needed to wear anything under it. I’ve taken it on a couple very windy winter runs too and it handles the weather so well. My only complaint is sometimes I wish it had a drawstring around the bottom. Overall: awesome cold weather layer. 10/10 would recommend.

Awesome length & flexibility
My favorite piece to wear hiking during the winter in the PNW. Great length, warmth, & flexibility. The deep front zipper is a plus for cooling down.

Great as a ski layer
This is my go-to ski layer. I usually wear my basic base layers under and it’a still roomy enough that I can work with an additional layer under if need be. I own a ton of Mountain Hardwears stuff and typically wear an XL and this is pretty true to size if not a titch on the larger side. I LOVE the longer cut to keep my bum and hips warmer. There are venting panels on the sides of this that are stellar at dumping heat in high output situations. The back and front panels are an ultra tight weave fabric and which is different (more windproof) than the 1/4” Frostzone which I also own. This is more technical and I hands down prefer this for skiing. This along with the MH Ghee base layer and insulated anorak allows me to be out in 10-20° weather for 6+ hours without feeling a thing. I’ve had this for about a year now and it’s held up extraordinarily well with washing. I HIGHLY recommend this and hope they keep carrying this style.

Needs Thumbholes
I wish this hoodie had thumbholes. I bought this to layer under my rainshell but it's hard to layer pieces without thumbholes. Also I wish the pocket was heavy instead of thin so it insulates the hands better. I also wish the hood had drawstrings for the wind. Overall I wish this jacket was heavier and more insulative. Cut is great, fit is great, color is great.

Love it!
This is exactly what I was looking for! A lightweight, warm hiking sweatshirt. It’s so lightweight, perfect for cooler days on the trail. The quarter zip allows for temperature control and high pockets are accessible with my pack on. Love it!

Great fit and functionality
I bought this for my wife and she loves it. The stretch fleece fabric allows for extra mobility and the 1/2 zip is great for venting. She just hiked in it and she loved the fit and functionality. She also likes how it is longer in the back because ‘it covers her rear’. Her words. She is 5’7” and around 170ish.

Happy Camper
I haven't really taken this off since it was delivered. (I have, but I wish I didn't need to). This is super comfy, looks great and feels even better. I like the difference in materials for different parts of the body. I will not that I have had the Frostzone Hybrid for only about a week or so and it has starts to pill on the collar where it is worn with other layers on top. Love it and recommend to everyone.

still testing, but bummer on the colours
I really like this item. I bought the dark umber from MHW, but also ordered void from another retailer (I wish MHW stocked it). Unfortunately, I've only tested one of them walking to the crag and not actually climbing. It wasn't as warm as I would have thought given that it is called "frostzone", but I love the kangaroo pocket and hood. I also tried on the 1/4 zip, but this version is longer. Since I have a long torso this is the clear winner (even though I'm a sucker for anything asymmetrical). It is also a much looser fit than the 1/4 zip and full zip jacket. If I keep either, I will keep the void colour. I MUCH prefer the dark umber colour via MHW, but the zippers are black and for some reason it bothers me with the dark rusty colour. Usually I don't mind contrast, but I do with this. I'd recommend you give it a go and see if it works for you.
