Ghost Train Ski

People were somewhat skeptical when Moment mind-melded the Ghost Chant and Night Train into one ski, but the results spoke for themselves, and this year's Ghost Train has been tweaked to make it even lighter, more stable, and more powerful. It's still a pure powder-crushing board—123mm underfoot with an extended tip and tail rocker to float through the cold smoke—but Moment updated it with Handlebar Rocker, which adds a flat underfoot platform and sections of micro-camber fore and aft of the bindings to improve edge grip and hardpack performance. The Ghost Train will still pivot on a dime and give you nine cents change, but it's more controllable when conditions get variable, making it a better backcountry board.

It's also been lightened up significantly, thanks primarily to Moment's Lowfat Layup construction, which incorporates 33% more carbon and lighter fiberglass laminates to give the Ghost Train a skim-milk uphill feel without any watery performance on the way down. It also decreases the swing weight, making it more responsive in the air, and stiffness the tail so you can stomp big airs without wheeling away like an out-of-control motorcycle stuntman. Aspen and ash in the core give the Ghost Train a lively and energetic feel that doesn't shake you to bits, and UHMW sidewalls direct tons of power to your edges for grip when things get sketchy. Lock it down in variable terrain or slash and surf when the blower gets extra blowery, but don't doubt the Ghost Train's cold-smokin' chops.
