Why We Like The Limestone Tent

The Marmot Limestone 6P Tent isn't really something you want toss on your back and head out on the trail with, but for car camping or backyard excursions, it's the perfect shelter for the whole family. It sleeps six without trouble and is tall enough—over six feet—that even the adults can stand up without bumping their head on the ceiling. And with its sturdy, waterproof design, you won't have to worry when an unexpected storm threatens your plans.

Once it's pitched the whole crew will have plenty of space to sprawl out thanks to its Zone construction, which uses vertical walls to create a feel that's downright palatial when compared to other tents. Spacious vestibules provide plenty of space to store soggy boots and other gear, so the kids aren't tracking mud into the tent. Vents in the fly keep the air in the tent from getting too stuffy and stale when you're waiting out a storm, and the reflective guy-out points keep you from tripping and bringing the whole shebang down in a heap when you make a mad nighttime dash to the bathroom.

Excellent

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Great quality tent all around from the zippers, stitching, flooring, poles, mesh etc well built. Struggle free stuff sack to put away tent is also a plus. Rain fly cover also has great coverage, and color coded tabs also a plus for set up. Tested so far in Tahoe National Forest. 3 adults 250 - 300 lb with 3 back packs and all gear kept inside tent along with 1 dog. We had plenty of room left over for 1 more wide sleeping pad. and also able to stand up with no problem. ventilation is also a plus from the vents and double doors front and back. Layout and shape also allow easy exit and entry without steping over others. As reference 4 wide sleeping pads with full size backpacks and a dog or 2 would be comfortable in this tent. 5 to 6 adults is "possible" if you keep gear outside and position correctly. If using this tent with children or narrow 20 inch wide sleeping pads vs 25+ should be no problem to get max capacity.

Very solid tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The tent is excellent! It can easily accommodate 4p with a lot of stuff. But having this in mind that it's a car camping tent the huge front door should have been additionally equipped with mesh as well for hotter nights. This wouldn't make big any difference regarding it's weight.

Still great after 10 years of use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this 10 years ago in 2013 and use it a few times each year, mostly in the spring or fall here in Texas. I always store the tent and fly separately in large cotton bags inside our climate controlled home so haven't had any issues with the waterproofed sides of the fly getting sticky as they will sometimes do. Just on this last camping trip the 2 clear plastic windows on the fly came unglued. Waiting to hear from Marmot if they sell replacements, otherwise I will attempt to re-glue them myself. The tent itself is so easy to set up, I can do it by myself but a second person makes it go faster. On our campout last week we had a HUGE thunderstorm roll in at sunrise, we just had time to make a thermos of coffee and grab granola bars and hunker down in the tent. It rained about 3 inches over a 2 hour period and we could feel the ground under the tent getting soft and spongy, the water was literally flowing under the tent. But the tent never leaked! The floor had a slight dampness when you touched it but no visible signs of water leaking in. This tent was well worth the money.

Excellent Tent but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Happy with the tent's performance but please please please make the tent carry bag a little bigger and perhaps top loading design (current trend) might be better to stuff them in.

Easy to set up, not the best quality materials

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how easy this tent is to set up and it offers plenty of room; however, the rain fly ripped at the seam after my 3 year old tripped over the guyline and caused the fabric to tear. I am going to have to repair it. It's a good tent otherwise!

Limestone 6-person tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome family tent. Super easy to pitch and spacious, with great headroom. My 9 y.o. always whinges about the accommodations when camping and this was the first time the princess didn’t detect a pea under her mattress. My wife and I wished we had upgraded to this years ago!!

Marvelous Marmot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this tent since Nov 2012 and have been using it since 2013 (there were 3 years since 2013 that I didn’t go camping). This is a GREAT tent. It still looks new. It keeps the rain out very well with the rain fly in place. It’s domed so it handles the wind. Assembly is fast and can be done with only one person but it’s easier with 2. I’m 6’0” and can stand in it. It fits a full size air mattress and a cot along with some baggage. There are two vestibules and two large access doors. I highly recommend it and would buy another Marmot tent in a heartbeat. I’ve had Coleman tents before and I feel this is on an entirely different level. One of my Coleman tents was a weathermaster and was ok but much heavier, hard to assemble and only lasted a four years before the poles gave out. Just know when they say 6 person tent they really mean about 3 if you bring gear with you and plan on spending any time in the tent. 6 means sleeping bags lined up like sardines and nobody is moving anywhere and you just sleep on it. I think that’s the case with most tents though.
