A sense of excitement always fills our bodies when we look at the long-range forecast and realize we're finally in the clear with the weather and short-sleeves and bare legs are always the order of the day. Bib shorts are the workhorse of our wardrobe, logging more miles than most of the rest of our kit and good ones are required to ensure comfort on the bike. Louis Garneau once again brings the goods with the Women's Equipe 1.6 Bib Short. Offering both subtle styling and top-notch technical features, these bib shorts provide the supportive compression you need for hard-working muscles with a plush chamois for all-day comfort.
Louis Garneau's achieves the right mix of stretch and compression by utilizing its Pro+ and Power+ Lycra materials. The Pro+ Lycra adds a touch of comfort with a forgiving stretchiness that belies its ability to recover its shape, allowing it to follow your every movement instead of hindering motion. Meanwhile, the Power+ Lycra boasts a mix of stretch and compression to support muscle groups, so you won't fatigue as quickly and you're able to recover faster.
Louis Garneau uses flatlock stitching in its construction to eliminate uncomfortable irritation and the seamless inner legs reduce friction while rubbing against the saddle. Powerband compression cuffs at the leg openings hold the hem in place to prevent wondering cuffs without excessive constriction. Garneau's women-specific Motion Airgel chamois utilizes a mix of perforated gel inserts and multi-thickness perforated high-density foam to wick away moisture and provide a comfortable ride. As a final touch, a small pocket on the back of the bibs, designed for a race radio, stores any small items securely and opens up jersey pocket real estate for more snacks or gear.

- Q & A
Great For Endurance Rides
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
So far I've only worn these bibs a few times, but each time they were for 40-80 mile rides. The chamois is VERY thick and is properly seated so it isn't coming up to your bellybutton. It has a nifty cutout on the butt side of the chamois for venting and I did not find myself soggy even after 3 hours in 90+ degree heat. I love the integrated gripper in the wide band since I abhor the thin silicone gripper that used to be mainstream. Wide cuffs slide on easily when you aren't sweaty yet. Since I changed kits during my 24 hour bike ride without a rinse between, getting them on was a bit rough but not as bad as some of my other bibs. Sizing is right on and the suspenders are not overly long or short. As a short lady with a very short torso, the straps are the right height and even someone as tall as 5'6" would probably be fine with a size small without the straps being too tight. I'm 5'1", 119lb and small fits perfectly.
