The shoes are comfortable but are very difficult to get on - I use a shoe horn which has helped tremendously. I also ordered one size up which I think fits better.

I love everything about these shoes, they fit great and are so comfortable... but getting them on is terrible. They don't have the pull tab at the heal (that so many other shoes have) to help, so you have to jab your thumbs in help get them on your feet. Even with that, it isn't fun. In the winter, getting these shoes on is at the TOP of my list of most dreaded chores (not to be dramatic), but cold fingers + having to work this hard to get them hard is terrible. If it wasn't for this, I'd give 5 stars for sure.

I have a heck of a time finding shoes that are comfortable, durable and that just fit well... I've gone through most of the popular brands a couple of times now and figured I'd give the wildcats one more shot. My problem with them the first time I tried them was that I should have gone up a full half size instead of the weird 1/4 size... So I normally wear a 10.5 and bumped up to an 11 (44.5) and they fit fantastic. Roomy toe area, SOLID heel lock and excellent cushioning. They give my feet some room to swell and are still comfy... Do I wish they were a little lower drop? Yep, but that has bothered me less than I thought it would... My knees and lower back actually feel really good after wearing these! So give them a shot and don't be scared to order at least a 1/2 size up, maybe a full size...

Solid, confident footing. Cushioned from stones and such. only have 5 miles of trail running in them, but right out of the box, no problems. Definitely agree with ordering a full size up. I normally target 9 EEE, 9,5 W. I ordered a 43 which is a 10 in US and got lucky. Snug in heel and mid with room in the toe box. Took UPS 6 days to deliver, sat 3.5 days 40 miles away after upgrading to second day. Excellent shoe.

A good shoe for hiking and light trail running. Not the most cushioned shoe however. Tread pattern has good grip, and I have had no durability issues with the upper or the sole. I also wear La Sportiva mountaineering boots and climbing shoes, and they have fit true to size compared to what I wear in Nepal Cube GTX's and Solution's.

Wore these on a 31 mile AT section hike this weekend after two 10 mile break-in walks. I was concerned around comments about these shoes slipping on wet surfaces. I hiked a day and a half in the rain over rocks, mud, water, grass and logs without a single slip! Either Sportiva made some modifications or the other reviewers experienced different conditions. I turned in my 500 mile Vasquez?s for these and was pleased with the LaSportivas! Highly reccomend.

Feel great, but run small

I haven't done any super long hikes in these yet, but so far they feel great! Wish I had just a tiny bit more room in the toe box, but they feel fine. I will say they run small, I ended up having to get 11.5 and I don't wear that size in any other shoe, so keep that in mind. (edit) After walking around the neighborhood in these a bit, I did a 35 mile trip through snow (UGH) and these felt great! No break-in period really, felt comfortable instantly. They did feel a bit too cushion-y at first, but I've gotten used to that. They are SO grippy! So grippy that they feel almost sticky when I'm wearing them, which is awesome. (edit again) The only thing I HATE about these shoes is they don't have the pull tab thing on the back of the heel. Putting these on dry is fine, but when you have to put them on wet with wet socks (frequently since it rains here a lot), it's a PAIN.

Durability Issues

I've gone through 4 pairs of these shoes. I have narrow feet, and these just seem to "work" for me, and are very comfortable. Sometimes it's just easier to stay with what you know, then try to find a better alternative. My main two issues with the Wildcat are these: First, the very top/last eyelets, where one ties the shoes, fray very quickly. Ultimately, the underlying integrity of the eyelet is ok and has not caused issues, but if you care about aesthetics, those two eyelets on each shoe begin to look like muppets. Second, as another reviewer wrote, the bottoms of the shoes wear relatively quickly, which also decreases the traction. Further, I have not had great experiences w traction on any type of wet root or rock. I have started to using an Arc'teryx FL mid GTX to run on mountain trails. It will be interesting to see how these hold up over time, but so far, they have been amazing. Not to mention, the sole on the Arc'teryx is like glue on rocks and roots. They also run even a bit narrower than the La Sportivas, so if you have wider feet, they may not be great for you.

I've worn La Sportiva gear for years. Mountaineering, running, climbing, etc. But these shoes within a month were falling apart. The rubber on the bottom worn out with less than 30 miles on them. Maybe I had a fluke pair. I hope so because I do like this brand.
