Garmont's Tower LX GTX Women's Backpacking Boot is a well-rounded mountain boot that is light enough for easy-going trails and aggressive enough for off-trail exploration in the alpine. The upper strikes a balance between durability and weight with a full-wrap Helix rubber rand for serious protection, tough Cordura panels, and a microfiber material for comfortable flex with each step. The tongue is composed of a Schoeller stretch fabric for added comfort and an easy, forward-flexing feel. Garmont built the upper around a Gore-Tex membrane, making the boot waterproof, breathable, and capable of handling almost any mountain you decide to take them up in late spring, the peak of summer, or late fall.
The Tower LX sits on a progressive lasting board with a stiff, yet flexible feel and excellent torsional stability. A nylon and fiberglass shank helps keep the boot stiff and supportive, while a 2.5mm Aleoven footbed offers a generous amount of cushioning for those dawn-to-dusk days in mountains. Garmont even integrated a PU heel welt, making the boot compatible with hybrid crampons, and threw a hard-wearing and aggressively lugged Vibram Mulaz sole for exceptional traction on the trail, across mushy alpine meadows, or rocky ridge-line routes to the summit.
