Great Camp Pant

These are a great weight, have a well thought out pocket set-up, and are very comfortable. My only downside is they are tapered too tightly, for a camp pant with big pockets like these I would expect more space in the thighs to better use the pockets. Especially if you have bigger thighs. I love the pants, would be perfect if I could fit my usual waist size with bigger thighs.

These are one of my favorite pants. I have two suggestions to make the the perfect pant: 1) Do away with the black knee and butt material. I hate it. Keep the material color the same throughout the pant. 2) Put some back pockets in it. If I'm using these pants for work, I must reach back to stick something in my back pocket 100 times a day. Each and every one of those times is just to stick something in there to free up may handle for a minute or two. The front and side pockets do NOT serve the same purpose. When I'm sliding down a granite slab an my butt, I have NEVER had an empty rear pocket cause a problem. So put some back pockets in these please.

Three years ago I bought my first pair, green and black. Second pair was last year, grey and black. Third pair was last month, black on black. Great pants. Hiking and camping, early spring/late fall backpacking, yard work, bar, wood shop, etc. are just about everywhere I wear these pants. Exceptionally comfortable after a very short ?break in? period. Use the Fjallraven wax on the knees, rear end, and up to about 8-12 inches from the bottom cuff, depending on if you just walk through puddles or if you jump in them like a human that is actually living right. Wax the front above the knees if you?re planning to be out in the rain/snow. Speaking of the wax, it?s a breeze to apply. I use a Wagner heat gun on the low setting to melt the wax. You probably could make them ?waterproof? by applying multiple coats all over, but they certainly won?t breathe well. Wear GoreTex (or whatever your favorite brand is) for prolonged severe weather, or go inside, Also, the wax is not required in order for the pants to function as pants. After 3 years the first pair looks brand new. Same with the second pair. No issues at all with durability. I?ve crashed a mountain bike a few times in these, knelt on rocks, dirt, concrete, you name it. No holes, no tears, almost no fading, they literally look new. Size reference: I am 6?1? tall and purchased the ?LONG? version in each pair of pants. I typically buy jeans with a 34? inseam. Waist is a little different. First 2 pairs I weighed 180-195lbs and bought the ?50? waist. Fit was good, just a little loose. Jean size at the time was 33-34 in Levi?s and Ariats. Third pair I got the ?48? as I am back down to 160lbs. This pair by far fits the best around the waist. Tape measure just below the hip bone currently 35 inches if that helps for reference. I really do love these pants and wear them any chance I get. The only reason for purchasing the third pair was to be able to wear them for work every now and again. Sure would be rad if Fjallraven had other ?solid? colors available. If that were the case I?d likely give up jeans for good. These pants are honestly that comfortable and durable. With all the pockets these would be a good option for some trades men and women. But then again, there are no pockets in the rear, so think before you buy. For some folks that can be a dealbreaker. $160 is a lot for pants. Based on the longevity alone I believe they are worth it. For me, they are comfortable and easily capable of performing the tasks I require of them. Hopefully they work out for you as well. Cheers

EU sizing doesn't work

Familiarity:

48 and 50

I've been trying for yearrrsss to get some fjallraven pants to fit me, but the euro sizing just seems to be off for me. I ordered size 32 (48 EU) and they were just too tight on the waist and hip area, so mobility would be terrible and just not work. Tried the 33-34 (50 EU) first, but Fjallraven's jump from 48 to 50 is just way too big of a size increase. Waists ends up too big, same with butt and thighs. As others have said, the pants are built pretty bomber it seems like, but the EU sizing just doesn't work for me. They need a size in-between their 48 and 50. For reference, my sizing: waist (@ belly button) @ 33-34in hips @ 40-41in quad @ 23-24in lower quad/above knee @ 20in
