Danner Nailed It

Familiarity:

Bought a 1/2 size smaller due to reviews and fit perfectly. Great looking boot that required little to no break it and that I enjoy wearing on and off the trail. Recently used on several trails in the Smoky Mountains and performed great in mud, gravel, and very rugged terrain we encountered. One thing I did notice was a little slippery on some of the smooth rocks we crossed in the river beds, but maintained it’s waterproof title.

These boots are great! I bought them to wear at work and have them on usually for around 9 hours. They took about a day to break in and after that they are very comfortable and provide good support. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is that they run large. I usually wear a 12 or 13 depending on boot or shoe. I bought a 11.5 and they fit perfectly for me. I purchased the dark earth color and I am very pleased with they way they look. The extra pair of orange strings was a nice surprise as well. I would definitely recommend these boots to someone who wants to wear a boot but doesn't want something super heavy and wants something that has a casual look to it.

Fashion over function

Essentially a set of skate shoes that look like boots. Walking any sort of distance in these is painful. In addition, they are HOT, and not breathable whatsoever. Disappointed, as these boots look great and I really wanted to like them.

Buy at least 1 whole size smaller.

Fit:
Runs large

Keep in mind you'll have to pay for return shipping so order a whole size smaller size.

Nice looking boot, just way too big.

I really like this boot but the sz 13 I ordered was massive. They don't make a 12.5 and they're out of the 12 so I returned. Definitely order a size down like other reviewers have recommended.

I love these boots! From winter to summer, they do it all. One thing to note is that they can feel a bit big during the summer when wearing thinner socks.

This is my third pair of Danner boots and they are consistently excellent. The Skyridge does run just a little large, I am usually a 12 and had to return for the 11.5 otherwise great.

I bought these boots for my boyfriend and asked him to write a review. Here's what he had to say: I have been looking for an around town high top shoe that would bridge the gap between rugged and metropolitan. Sure enough I found it in these boots! They are super comfortable and I was stoked to see that they came in ½ sizes. The ankle support and foot bed are equally as comfortable. I necessarily wouldn’t use these shoes for a trail hike, but I doesn’t mean that they could be used for a spur of the moment hike! I have gotten a lot of compliments on the color scheme, especially when I used the extra set of laces (orange). If you are looking for a classy western boot look no further!

I got these boots for everyday use in the cooler months. They are extremely functional, waterproof, and casual enough to wear to work. I would say the fit around 1/2 size bigger than my regular street shoe, so take that into consideration when you are working out the sizing.

As Expected Quality From Danner

These shoes run about a half size too big, but are well made and comfortable. After replacing the insoles they fit better.

Can't go wrong with Danner's

Familiarity:

Bought these as a gift but their feedback was positive. They have all the typical comfort and durability of Danners and also look great. They look like a mix between a sneaker and a boot. Overall great boot!

This is my first pair of high top hiking boots and I love them! Already hiked in a variety of terrain and they've been amazing in all situations. From hiking on the slick rock down in Moab, to playing in the Wasatch after a fresh snow. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a do it all boot!

How does the Skyridge compare to the Jag? Is it beefier?

Hi Tim, I think the Jag and Skyridge are very similar shoes that fill a similar niche. Both shoes offer everyday style and function to meet life's demands. They weigh within 1 oz. of each other (Jag=34 oz and Skyridge=35 oz) so I wouldn't consider either more beefier than the other though the skyridge has a more modern outersole that may be preferred over the retro waffle outersole on the Jag. I think both shoes are great options. Let me know if I can set up an order at mbova@backcountry.com.
