Built for whatever, whenever, the Columbia Palmerston Peak 9in Shorts are above-the-knee shorts that fit in hiking, at the crag, or just casually in the office. These shorts show off our thighs and stay out of the way when we're doing cool things. The lightweight material dries quickly so a quick dip into the swimming hole after a long day out hiking or on the wall is never a chore.

Not the best belt + runs large
Not a fan of Columbia' solution for a belt on this one + it runs large. Otherwise it is a good pair of shorts.

Wet or dry, you need these short.
These are a fantastic blend of swim suit and shorts. Taking grandkids to Six Flags, where you know you will be wet, floating a river, or anywhere that you just want to go from water to dry. They dry almost instantly and you can walk through the gift shops without looking like you just came from the pool. Word of caution: I own an older version of these shorts in a Large. The Large on these was just too big; the medium is just right. Columbia's size chart is correct, but you actually have to read it.

Returned Them
Not much elastic in the waistband to get them on and off comfortably. Returned them.

I have 8 pairs and wear these shorts almost every day
I live on Hawaii island and wear these shorts almost every day. I bought 6 pairs about 4 or 5 years ago and they are still holding up though faded. I just bought 2 more for “dress up”. BTW- I wish you still made a khaki green color.

Still a great short
These shorts are an excellent value. Great for summer hike and warm weather fly fishing. Previous versions of this short had a zippered back pocket, and also an additional Velcro flap front pocket and I really liked that. Otherwise still a well made product.

Almost There
This material is nice and cool and the shorts fit as sized. My main issue is the “cargo” pocket on the left is undersized and doesn’t fit an iPhone max. I would like to see a drained pocket added to the right and both enlarged, keep the pocket zippers for extra security. I’m in search for the perfect travel, cargo short but have yet to land on it. The mesh liner is perfect! Think about it: much cooler in a hot climate, one less underwear to pack (we travel light with backpacks), allows for a dip in the pool or ocean, doubles as your casual short, has belt for securing, sun protection, etc. Coulmbia used to offer a short similar to their Silver Ridge that had a mesh liner, pockets with drains, and built in belt (not belt loops). I owned almost every color. Bring back something like that, and I’m all in!

Perfect Shorts
My husband loves these shorts! After wearing the first pair for one day, he wanted to order two more pairs. So he did. All three pairs fit well and he likes the longer 10 inch length. The material resists moisture and drys quickly. Definitely a winner!
