    Always Improving

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wanted to give this new bladder a try and I love it. I really like the new bite valve.

The new valve does not leak at all but allows plenty of water to come out when you need it. I also really like how wide the the top is. It's really easy to get ice into the bladder.

New Crux: Great New Valve, Same Ol Taste

At this point, most everyone is familiar with hydration bladders. This newest version of the Crux did improve its ergonomics and bite valve. The valve has increased flow and is especially helpful when the bladder is your sole water source and you need to fill a canteen/flask/cooking pot/whatever. Unfortunately the Crux still has that plastic taste that has existed for years. I was hoping this new version would be different. I didn't want to have to switch brands, but my next bladder will be something different. Everyone wants their water to be refreshing when out on the trail or running your butt off, but I feel like having to swallow this taste makes hydration more of a chore.

      Good as always.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

CamelBak has reigned supreme for awhile now and for good reason. Very easy to use, clean, and attach. Bite valve is smooth and doesn't drip. Doesn't take up a lot of space in the pack and stays cool for hours.

Camelback has done it right again.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Easy to fill, hangs well in my Osprey pack, no drips no leaks, shutoff valve is sure and intuitive, and the bite valve is easy to use and draw from, with great flow. With the handle and large cap it's not as light as some, but neither was it too heavy. I give it two thumbs up.

      Great product!

LOVE. No leakage. Did not run out of water on a 2 hour hard core hike up a cliff in scorching heat. Easy to hold handle to fill up water. Easy to drink spout with close valve if needed. Not enough good things to say about this product!

        Tube Angles Up

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The new handle makes this reservoir much easier to fill without spilling water everywhere, which is super nice.

The drinking tube exits the reservoir angling up towards your head, so be sure your pack has the port at the top, and not routed down to the bottom of the pack and out a side, or your tube may kink.

The bite valve is awesome. Super easy to use and great flow.

A perfect product, in my mind, would open at the top with a flat lock closure, like Salomon, Platypus, and Osprey reservoirs. This makes the bladder easier to clean and dry (just flip it!).

        Sure

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just like my old Camelbak but better. The ergonomic handle makes it a lot less awkward to fill the bladder - if you have above average wrist strength then you should be able to do it one-handed. Still the most convenient way to drink water while you are in motion

        Even Better

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

CamelBak makes products that are well designed and last forever. Case in point, I bought a new CamelBak bladder to replace my old one just because I wanted to check out the new Crux design. The old one still worked fine. This new model though, I like the way the lid secures a little more, and you do notice that it is easier and faster flowing than the previous design. The new shutoff valve is more obvious and easier to use, and the 45 degree angle is better and more ergonomic than the previous 90 degree. Thank you Camelbak for making another awesome product.

        Love the newer design

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I haven't bought a Camelback bladder in years because mine held up pretty well. The new design allows for easier removal of the twist cap and easier cleaning. I used this size with my Camelback cloud backpack.

        Camel Back Got it Right!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been using Camelback products for quite some time now and I can confidently say that they really got it right with this bladder. I love how easy it is to clean-that wide mouth does wonders.

        More small improvements

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Camelbak has always been tinkering with their reservoirs. They have gone back to a threaded cap and the new handle you can actually get a good grip when that cap is on a bit too tight.
The Most noticeable change is the angle of the bite valve. Before at 90 degrees and the sticky rubber would hang up on any and everything and hold on tenaciously. The new 45 degree angle alleviates most of that. And less obvious that they increased flow by 20% for a Bigger drink.

        An Actual Upgrade

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hydration bladders are pretty simple, which made this one a pleasant surprise. The wide mouth makes it easy to clean, and the high-flow hose is a noticeable improvement. It's not quite revolutionary, but it's a step better than most of the hydration bladders I've used in the past.
