Bigger and still lighter.

The Fly Creek HV UL Two-Person Tent still maintains the ultralight weight that minimalist backpackers look for, but Big Agnes redesigned it with a higher volume to give a comfier sleeping space. Unique to Fly Creek HV tents, DAC's Angle SF Hub works with the Featherlite pole system to provide 25% more head space and 10% more foot space. Apart from a higher volume, the Fly Creek HV UL Tent still features the same waterproof fly and floor along with the same mesh canopy for three-season use.

The fly creates a dry space to protect your gear from wet weather, and it gives the door a dry entry so you don't dampen your sleeping bag. Big Agnes included eleven superlight stakes, three internal mesh pockets, and gear loft loops that accommodate the Big Agnes Triangle or Entertainment Center lofts (both sold separately). This tent is also compatible for a lighter fast fly setup with the fly, poles, and footprint (sold separately).

  • Ultralight tent for light and fast backpacking
  • Waterproof fly and floor protects against summer storms
  • High-volume design expands internal space
  • Dry entry door and vestibule protect gear from rain
  • Three mesh pockets, gear loft loops, and stakes included
  • Item #BAG009M

Good Piece of kit

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I finally killed my Fly Creek 2 when a zipper failed after 7 years and more than 100 nights out in it. Incredible for such a light wieght piece of kit. I mostly used it for bikepacking adventures where weight and space are at a premium. It kept me dry in storms and was easy to set up. It packs small and I never used a ground sheet and the floor stayed tear free. Set up with stakes and guy lines it wieghed in at 2.1 lbs on my scale. It is not roomy for two by any measure but it is lighter and much more comfortable that two bivies. If you are looking for a good, light and small shelter this is the ticket.

Light and easy

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent is perfect for backpacking. I used it solo and with my 75lb Black Lab and it performed great! It is ultralight so the materials don't seem super durable, but that's what you get with a tent that weighs only 2lbs. Setting it up is easy so I would have to give this a 5-star review.

Great Lightweight backpacking tent

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought the OG Fly Creek UL 2 tent in 2013 and got the new HV version before we left for the John Muir Trail this year. This tent has no frills but gets the job done. It's tight for two people but definitely manageable, adding in a 80 pound dog is asking a little too much. Husband and I both have Big Agnes sleeping pads and they take up the entire floor space of this tent laying side by side. We've experienced quite a few chilly nights above 10K feet in this tent which can bring up condensation issues. We only had issues one night when we hadn't taken the time to set up the guylines properly. Setup and teardown is fast and simple. This is a great ultralight backpacking tent and we're looking forward to using this for many years to come. If you're looking for something a little more spacious, luxurious and heavier definitely check out the Copper Spur!

Ultra Light Done Right

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Definitely small and Ultralight. It weighs NOTHING compared to other options and still has room and comfort. I'm 6'2" and fit just in the UL2. If you do bring 2 people or a dog, you better be close since room is limited but that's how UL gear works. Not too complicated to set up but the Copper Spur is definitely more simple and has more room. Not the most durable piece but if you want to carry no weight, it's the way to go!

Lightweight Shelter

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent is very lightweight and packs down pretty small. It is simple to set up, even with just one person and only requires two stakes. Like other tents in this class, it will fit 2 24" pads snugly, but there isn't much room for anything else. Overall this is a decent tent if you are after weight savings and ease of use.

Great Light Backpacking Tent

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

My FlyCreek 2 is a little older probably 5 years old now and is always my warm season go to backpacking tent. It is light and packs small. I love that it doesn't take up a lot of room in my tent. The other thing I love is how well it keeps you dry when used properly. If staked properly and guyed out it will keep you dry. Even on the Lost Coast when it doesn't stop raining. I backpacked the Lost Coast recently and it rained 2 of the three days pretty much non stop. To my suprise, I was completely dry when waking up in the morning. Also, it holds up well in the winds. I've taken this tent into the Sierra's during hail storms and high winds at altitude with no trees, rainy coastal trips with unrelenting rain, and various trips in-between. If I had a complaint it would be it is small and the vestibule doesn't have much room. However, this is to be expected with such a light weight.

The ideal tent for the ultralighter

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you want to save space and weight, get this tent. It's incredibly light and packs up very small. I slept in it by myself on a trip in Moab and it was the perfect size for me and my gear. If you plan on sleeping in it with another person, get cozy and leave the gear outside. Super easy to set up alone, took me about 5 minutes. Love that the pole is one piece and that the rain fly clips are color coordinated with the tent body.

So Light!

I've used it several times

This tent is a marvel. it's really light. I use it for 1p camping but could be good for 2 if you're really trying to shave weight.

1 person backpacking tent

A 2 veeery friendly people tent. You can make it work. Space wise, I think the tent fits the niche of 1 person with a backpack and a dog much better. And under 2lbs? Big Agnes, my heart can only get so full. Great for backpacking due to the weight and small size, but I've used it for trips where weight wasn't important too. It's just a comfy tent that you can easily pick up with 1 finger if you want. Simple to pack up too. Set up is easy peasy - a blue hub in the center of the single pole set with an orange marker at one end for the back of the tent. Clip the tent on then the rain fly buckles and clips into place. Even in wind! Everything's color coded so as long as you're not color blind you're 100% set. But even if you are color blind it seems really straightforward (you're 95% set?). The zipper for the door can stick. Wasn't too much trouble though. Withstood wind and cold well but I haven't tested it in rain yet. I hope to take it on many more trips to come.

Just Got these and love them!

I was excited to check out the tent and so i set it up in my house since its so cold out side. Seems durable and well put together. Easy to take down also and very compact but its not difficult to pack away unlike some other compact tents i have had

Good, light weight tent.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Very nice tent. Only a couple of negative things to say. A) Not overly simple to put up and I'd recommend a "refresher course" at your home before a trip if you haven't used it in a while (maybe I'm just forgetful?) B) Needs a fairly large footprint, and is difficult to get as "taught" as the photos might suggest. This is frustrating during wet/windy weather. Everything else is fabulous!

Wild

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Honestly Wild how light this tent is, given its a full feature, stand alone tent and rainfly. Two things to keep in mind here. This tent is ultralight because its materials are ultralight. This means thin and relatively fragile. I think that the tent is well made and the fabrics are as durable as they can be, but you need to be relatively careful when using the tent. The other thing is that this is truly a 2 person tent. As in, 2 people fit, and nothing else. We managed to fit myself, my girlfriend, and our 36lb dog inside on a recent overnighter and that was absolutely max capacity of the tent. No room for a bunch of clothes, stuff, etc. At the end of the day, if you are looking for the convenience of a "normal" tent, with UL weight and size, this tent is 10 stars out of 10.

Insanely light

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I have had this tent in my "Wish List" ever since my first week of being employed at Backcountry. When my brothers girlfriend hinted to me that he needed a new backpacking tent I knew exactly which one to get him. You would not believe how light this 2-person tent is. It is going to be absolutely perfect for any spring-summer-winter backpacking trip. Will fit 2 people pretty cozy. Come summer I am for sure going to snag myself one of these tents.

Light weight

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Super lightweight, but not super roomy, great for sleeping not really for anything else such as games and eating. if you seeking just a shelter then this will be perfect.

GREAT

My friend and I were looking for a new tent to take camping at renfest. This tent was perfect. It fits a queen mattress with enough room on the sides for a duffel bag or backpack. take 20% off coupons from coupon-code.info

Extremely light tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I cant beleive I didnt get this tent years ago. It extremely light and is perfect for backpacking. This tent fits two people pretty tightly tho. There is enough floor space for two, but the roof angles in and makes it hard for two people to sit up in this tent. The 3 person would be great for two people.

Good backpacking tent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent surprised me on how light but tough it is. I would recommend getting yourself familiar with the set up of this tent before your trip as it is a little tricky. This tent kept us dry when it rained during the night. I would recommend getting the footprint with this tent to help keep you more dry. A few negatives I would say: zippers snag a lot and it is really snug for 2 people. Unless you are a couple, you may want more room with your tent mate. If so, I would get the 3 person version of this tent.

Great ultralight tent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Light weight and easy to use. Great for couples who don't mind being cozy, if you need or like your space then get the three person tent. My wife and I used this for the first time on a backpacking trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We really like it, and would recommend it.

Great Ultralight tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I caved finally and bought a new backpacking tent after my trusty old one had a pole break. I have only used this a couple times but am impressed with how lightweight and easy to set up it is. The inside has a lot of great pockets to organize gear and so far seems very durable. Highly recommend.

Ultralight backpacking tent!

As far as three season ultralight tents go you cant't get any better. The overall weight is fantastic. the quality is to the high standard I have come to expect from Big Agnes. It is a cozy two man, great size for me and my wife, but it would be tight if i was sharing it with a my brother or buddies that are closer to my size. That being said it is still totally usable and functional for two 6' men, just cozy as should be expected from an UL tent. I have paired it with the footprint for added durability and though it adds to the weight i am ok carrying a bit more to be sure it will hold up to my uses. with the low weight i will also be using this on solo adventures so it covers all my UL tent needs.
