Early morning ascents, all day outings, multi-day hut trips on a touring set-up—these are the things that pair well with our Hayden Pants. Lightweight, breathable, and full of stretch, we wanted these to be ideal for longer days in the backcountry where the skintracks are steep but the weather is cooperating. Created with Gore-Tex Infinium, the fabric includes bombproof wind protection for navigating exposed ridgelines, and a new level of breathability that puts microclimate comfort first. While we might not be inclined to venture out into stormy weather, we do find it rather nice when tackling tricky kickturns and steep bootpacks without getting bogged down by body vapor. With our legs unencumbered by the classic hardshell construction of olden times, we're free to chase those fresh turns all day long.

Cold & Wet immediately

I wanted to like these pants, but after wearing them for about an hour on a snowy day, my ass was soaked and cold. I know Gore-Tex Infinium is not waterproof, but I didn't expect them to soak right through in such a short time. Also the fit was poor, way too long for me. Waist fit well.

Fits Bigger Guys

- Medium

I am 5?10?, 215 and the medium fits really well. I hold a lot of weight in my legs and butt. So I often have to size up on pants. I originally tried the large and they were way too big. The medium fits perfectly. I don?t love the full zipper down the legs, They are rigid which isn?t comfortable. Also they don?t allow for venting at the mid leg. You can only open them up from the bottom or the top, which is a bit awkward. Also, I would like a rear ?wallet pocket? and a key chain clip inside the front pockets. I?m always terrified of loosing my keys. Aside from those minor complaints I do love these pants. The material is great. And the color is very cool IMO.

These pants seem great at first but it seems like the features weren?t completely thought out. Beacon pocket has no clip. Pants zip all the way down on the side but this doesn?t function well as a vent. The overall durability seems fairly poor. About 1/2 of the button snaps fell off of my pants over various tours. The elastic that goes over the boot cuff has de threaded. I really wanted to love these pants but overall they need an overhaul.

The almost perfect pant

I?ve had these pants out 4 times so far, ranging from a bluebird day, cold windy day, and two days with light snowfall. These pants have preformed well in terms of comfort, and wind resistance. But on those more wet days I ended up with a wet rear. Now maybe the lifty was slacking on brush duty but I?m slightly bummed out that they weren?t as water resistant as I was hoping. Now over all these pants are great, I will just end up with something that?s Gore-Tex black label. If you?re looking for something comfy, practical, stylish, extremely breathable, with ok water resistance these are the pants. As mentioned the fit is just about dead on. Medium fits me like a glove and I?ve got big thighs and buns.

Would these hold up on Rainier? Or since they?re only water resistant are there any better hardshells that are fully waterproof and fully zippered on the side?
