I ordered this bag to use when I move overseas in a few months because it seemed to be roomy yet be able to fit in overhead storage. I loved it immediately when I received it. It is a sturdy bag, I love the dry bag area, the color is awesome, and it looks like it can take a beating. I recently used it for a lake trip and I was very grateful for the water resistant fabric when it started to rain. The dry bag also came in handy for my wet swim suit and towel. It holds quite a bit and is lightweight. I only carried it by the handles because (and this is my only complaint) the shoulder/ backpack straps are a bit fickle. Not wildly uncomfortable, but I found that the metal piece that holds it all together tends to come unbuckled very easily, causing it to snap right off your shoulder. It's easily fixed and I'm sure there's a workaround, so it works for me!

Needed a new duffel for camping, ordered this and got it today. It's quite nice, I like the heavy duty zippers and the waterproof-ish design (I have some questions about how waterproof the sides are, we'll see how it does); the top flap extends a bit over the zipper, which is good. The integrated dry sack is a nice touch. The 40L seems like a great size to hold everything for a long weekend camping for one person with room to spare, which is what I was after. 2 people would be tight unless you pack *very* light, no surprise, that's not what I bought it for. (I think if you went up to the 60L, that's probably a good amount of space for two people if that's what you'd prefer.) The bag I got is definitely the 40L Backcountry -- it says so on the bag -- but it looks nothing like the picture. I ordered the "asphalt/buckthorn brown" color, which in the photos is grey with orangey-brown highlights; what I got is pretty much all orangey-brown, no grey. Oh well, I much preferred the look of the grey/brown, but it's still nice. A minor complaint, but I felt compelled to warn people, since I would probably have chosen a different color if I'd known. These aren't cheap, and I can't be bothered to return it over a color, but it would be nice for the listing to be accurate.

I’ve never loved a bag so much. I have the Black Hole in 55L, which I definitely like. But this thing just kicks so much bootay. It stays open nicely, it’s easy to grab, it’s actually comfortable as a backpack, and it’s just super cool looking. I also love the dry sack pouch, I use it for swimsuits after hot spring trips in the van, or just to help organize dirty clothes from clean. Backcountry nailed it with these duffles! Getcherself one

Really happy with this duffle bag! It's a great bag for a weekend trip, but also can be used easily as a supplemental bag for a longer trip. Fabric is super durable and easy to clean if there are scuff marks. Removable straps are comfortable and make it much easier to carry the bag. Also really like the zippered pockets inside, as well as the side zippered pocket that has an internal pocket. Highly recommend this duffle bag!

So I asked for help from Backcountry (shoutout to Ashleigh McClary) for help in finding me a new duffel that was at least water repellant (if not waterproof) and had a separate shoe compartment. She sent me the link to this duffel. It's 99% perfect. I use this for a gym bag because I'm sick of people's water bottles condensation leaking onto floors and other peoples' things (aka my old bag) and soaking everything else. This definitely takes care of it! I love that it has a large enough shoe compartment for my trainers, lifters, and my flip-flip flops/ slides. I wear a size 7.5 shoe. It'll even hold a pair of heels after the day if I'm wearing one of the other pairs. It's large enough to hold 5 days worth of gym clothes (I pack at the beginning of the week). It also holds all of my gym necessities (jump rope, tape, grips, bands, etc.), and there's a side pocket where I can put the everyday use things for easy access. The inside has a "private"/ hidden pocket within the mesh which is great for jewelry or things you don't wanna lose in a big bag. It does have the backpack straps, but they aren't removable. Where this bag could be (literally only) 1% perfected is if the backpack straps were removable and I could attach a traditional duffel strap to it - only because I use a backpack for work. Other than me being that picky, this is the best gym bag that I think I've ever owned and am so grateful for Ashleigh's help! I can see myself using this in the future for travel too.

This bag is one of the best duffels I've owned. The material is fantastic super durable and easy to wipe clean. The backpack straps are my favorite feature that allow you to take this bag anywhere and fill it to the max. Has great pockets on the sides and on the inner flap that allow you to keep all your stuff organized and secure.

I am so glad this duffel popped up in a Backcountry ad! My husband would say I don't need any more duffels - have a Pata Black Hole and an Arc' one too - but decided to ask my gearhead on a whim (two of our duffels are currently "fire season" grab/go ready). This has become my gear bag for weekend trips - no more throwing things in the car in piles. It fits all my extra layers, gloves, jackets, etc., for skiing in one easy to access location. Plus, I can stash stuff in the larger end pocket. It's definitely a well thought out bag. If you're on the fence about giving it a whirl, I highly recommend it!

The perfect duffel bag

I purchased this bag for a wide variety of uses. I have used it to keep all of my fly fishing stuff like boots, waist pack and waders inside of it. You can also attach your rod tube to the outside of the bag. The shoulder straps make it convenient to carry around. Since then, after a good cleaning I've used it for airline travel (fits nicely in overhead or under the seat), holding my snowboarding outerwear and helmet, and my bike things. 10/10 recommend this duffel. Oh, it's pretty weather resistant too.
