Long Time Staple

Familiarity:

Don't leave home without it. Put a little on some foam, put a little on your elk wing, or a dab on your emerger shuck. A little goes a long way when ginking up your fly as to not oil slick the water!

Not much else to say that hasn't been said, never go fishing without my gink. Lasts a long time and keeps your flies on top of the water. Little goes a long way here.

Critical

A must have for anyone looking to use a dry fly that needs a little help staying afloat. Do not over apply. A little bit of this can go a long way.

favorite flotant

not as greasy as the loon aquel. Ideal for getting a long float that does not oil slick the water.

Best Floatant

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Ideally you are using foam bugs to float but if you are using natural deer hair or CDC, a small dab of Gink goes a long way. Don't overapply! If you use this right, you'll have flies floating like corks even in rough water. I use it on bigger foam bugs with big parachutes! Awesome for hooking the big trout lurking in the rapids!

Time tested

It does exactly what it is made to do and does it great! High floating dries...even tiny little griffiths gnats. I worked in a fly shop for awhile and I can attest that more fishermen use this floatant paste than any others we had on the shelf. Use it sparingly, it doesn't take much!

Tested over time

Classic, old school, floatant your Dad and/or Grandpa used. You know they caught fish, so buy with confidence.

Must have in the fishin' pack

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

There is not much to be said that has not been said before, this stuff is tried & true! If you enjoy fishing top water, it is critical to keep your dry on top, using Gehrkes will make that happen for you. I have used several different floatants and continue to go back to the Gink! Application is super easy and this lil bottle will last most of your dry fly season.

Use in conjunction with dry shake

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

My process: Tie on new fly, cover fly in a few feet of leader/tippet with gink before getting it wet. Use until fly sinks. Then, apply shake to fly every 5-10 casts to help keep fly dry and floating. My favorite shake http://www.backcountry.com/umpqua-shimazaki-dry-shake-original

Classic

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Classic flying dressing does what it needs to, keep that fly floating high! However recently switched to Loon after years of using this, I find myself using less of the loon to keep the dry floating and I like that less squirting and more straight lines.

love it

Ive been using this stuff for a couple decades and its still my favorite. too many new fancy floatants out there now, but ill stick with the Gink.

Best

I ran out and have been using Loon since that's what the local shop had on my way out, but I prefer the Gink any day! A great floatant.

Floaty

Familiarity:

If you are looking for a great flotant get this one. If you pair it with the Umpqua shimazaki you are in for a treat! Your fly will be sitting so pretty on the water and the fishies will fall for it!

Is this a 1/2 oz bottle or compatible with the small loon caddy?

Hey Gunter, Yes that is a 1/2 oz bottle and will work with a small loon caddy. Let me know if you have any other questions?
