The Yeti SB5 Carbon XX1 ENVE Bike is the best of everything your gearhead dreams are made of. From the cream of the crop Yeti SB5 Carbon frame to the SRAM drivetrain, this combo shreds the XC trails as confidently as it rides the rock gardens.
Starting with the frame, The SB5 is built from Yeti’s laudable carbon fiber and weighs around five pounds, with shock. It features artfully shaped tubing, a tapered head tube, and a rear thru-axle. And even though it sits at the lighter end of the spectrum of all-mountain bikes, it holds true to its line and tracks even the gnarliest terrain with ease. The entire geometry is low, slack, and long.
The SB5 Uses Yeti’s Switch Infinity slider to reverse the movement of the suspension system as it reaches its sag point. This means that the movement of the suspension is not only less jarring, it also is less energy zapping. It works in a virtually identical manner to the Switch Link system but it travels in a linear plane instead of the arc of the eccentric pivot. This also means that it is easier to maintain so you spend less time in the shop and more on the trails. The pivot itself features Kashima-coated mini-stanchions with a forged shuttle, developed in conjunction with FOX Racing. And although it is lighter than the Switch Link, it has been tested to over a million compression cycles.
Mated with the FOX FLOAT CTD rear shock is a 140mm travel 34 FLOAT on the front. Both feature the flashy, friction-reducing gold Kashima coating for smooth movement. Finishing up the drivetrain is SRAM’s XX1 benchmark, one-by-eleven groupset, Shimano's XTR brakes with Ice Tech rotors — the best in the business. The carbon fiber handlebar is by Easton while Thomson provides the X4 stem and Masterpiece seatpost.
The Yeti SB5 Carbon XX1 wouldn’t be complete without the tubeless-ready ENVE M60 Forty wheelset, which is lightweight for speed, but plenty strong enough to take a few hits. They’re finished with the Maxxis Ardent/Ikon tire combo.
