Quick and Comfy - Incredible Value

Just took this up to Canyon Creek in Trinity Alps, CA this weekend - perfect weather, so this review is really just to say this is the best bang for your buck for a lightweight 1p.

Pitched in a minute, and had enough room for me (5'1'' 135lb) and my 63L Osprey gutted out like a dorm room. I felt like it had more room than I even needed - my thermarest sleeping pad didn't even touch the sides!
For me this was perfect as I only solo at this point - but I could easily fit a dog in there with me.

That said, Frederic P is right - you need more stakes for a full windproof set up, and I suggest getting your own. The stakes that come with it are what you'd expect, the heavy steel L shaped stakes.

The vestibule covered my boots and that's about it - that's all I ever try to fit under there anyways. Next time I'm not going to bag it (like Rachael E did) because I think I could've folded it more flush in my pack than roll it all together.

All in all, I can't believe how freaking awesome this was for under $150.

    Killler tent

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have owned alot of tents and i know a good tent when i see one. Used this tent on a 7 day trip on the John Muir trail in september. It did great in the wind and the rain. Easy set up and packs small only down side is that is very tight and narrow as others have stated. I paid $90 bucks for it . I could of spent $250 to get a lighter tent but I am cheap and the money I saved i can spend on good beer.

    Great little tent

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this little guy for a trip where I was camping without my spouse. It's a great little tent, easy to pitch and fast and light. I opted not to keep the tent bagged, and just rolled it up in my pack with the stakes and poles separate. Doesn't take up much room at all. It's pretty cozy. I'm 5' and about 123 lbs and there wasn't room for much else, but I probably could have snuggled with a dog if needed. The vestibule was big enough to throw my pack under with a bit poking out, but the rain cover for my pack kept everything dry. I would say the only flaw is in the rain fly zipper. The fly has two directional zipping and the top zipper is right over the top center of the tent. I didn't have any leaks, but if you didn't make sure that zipper was secure, it could be a source of water in a hard rain. It rained pretty hard on us and again, no leaks, so seems to work well. The tent is pictured next to a MSR Hubba. Normally I wouldn't camp this close to another person, but there were gangster, switchblade carrying raccoons in the area and we figured safety in numbers

    Great little tent

    Good price for the quality.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have slept 2 weeks in it with good weather.
I am 6' and can sit inside with my head touching the mesh. I have enough room to move, change clothes, lay down comfortably and keep some stuff inside.
    Pros:
    - Price for quality.
    - Simple design and easy to pitch.
    - Side entry makes it easy to get in/out.
    Cons:
    - Side entry also makes easy for drops to get in with you when it rains.
    - No fast pitch keeping the mesh dry when it rains (I love my old Vaude for that).
    - Just 8 cheap and heavy wire steel stakes. 4 are missing for a full windproof pitch. I bought 12 V-shape aluminium stakes for about $10. After using it on hard soil I regret not choosing more expensive titanium stakes.
I had an hesitation between this, the Ferrino Lightent 2 (2 pax and not much heavier) and the Camp Minima 1 SL (much lighter and smaller, almost a bivy sack). Good choice for what I do.

    Great value

You can't beat the quality of this tent for the price tag. I took this on a backpacking trip in the Smokies and it down poured every single night. The first night it was good and dry but after the second night I woke up to just a bit of water. I believe it was mostly my fault for not staking down the rain fly tight enough and it splashing up into the tent (I was exhausted after that day!). I did not purchase the tarp and don't plan to only so I can keep my pack weight down. Overall, I would recommend this tent 100 times over!

      Great value

      Bone Dry

I used this tent in Poe Paddy State Park in Pennsylvania for nine nights in a row. Everyone knows that it doesn't rain in Poe Paddy, it pours. This tent kept me bone dry. Each morning after a downpour fellow campers would ask how I fared and I would reply, "Bone dry."
After staking the tent out the first night I never had to adjust anything but the stake holding the entrance. It is a little tight to get out but I could manage to step into my shoes and stand up and emerge through the rain fly. This is when I would sometimes mess up the stake at the entrance.
I am 6' 4" and the length of the tent was no issue for me lying down but I couldn't sit straight up in the middle so I slouched. It is defiantly a one person tent with little room for anything else in the tent. It fits easily in the bag with the footprint which I also bought.
Don't get it if you are claustrophobic. It took me one night to adjust to sleeping in what is a coffin sized tent. Poles are spot on.

How long are the pole sets when disassembled for storage? Thanks

        Unanswered Question

What color option should I select for the yellow rain fly? Thank you.

        Unanswered Question

Wrong color item was delivered to me.

When I order this product (Asphalt Grey / Papaya Yellow), I believed the picture shown on the computer; the color of fly is yellow and inner tent is grey. The item brought to me was the opposite; the color of fly is grey and the inner tent is yellow. I think it is your mistake. Could you exchange the item without any charging fee? Let me know how to process ASAP.
