Get ready, shreddy.
Suit up and get your pow pants on this winter with the North Face Powder Guide pants. They are ready to sink into chest-deep powder, skin into the backcountry, and traverse above treeline, so you can spend your snowy days happily dry while you send it down chutes and between precarious tree runs. Made from waterproof, breathable GoreTex, the Powder Guide pants are eager to get into the deep of it and keep water rolling off like they were made for frozen rain and torrential downpours, but hopefully it's just blower pow in your neck of the woods.
Sealing out moisture further, StretchVent gaiters tighten around your boot with elastic grippers to keep you dry from beneath, and you can cinch your pants up with a compatible The North Face jacket for jacket-to-pant integration that seals snow from making its way to your baselayers. A burly reinforced kickpatch boosts durability at the cuffs to keep sharp edges and rough boots from blowing holes or fraying edges. Speaking of boots, when you're bootpacking up ridgelines things can get sweaty, which is why the North Face backs up the Powder Guide pants with inner thigh vents and a ventilation system so you can dump heat as you're guiding yourself to the freshest of pow.

The North Face Powder Guide Pant
Tons of pocket space and bomber Gore Tex. I like them a lot. I wear a 33/30 in pants and the M/short fits me. I do wish the vents were larger though,
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Height: 5'4"
- Weight: 135lbs
These are a hopped-up / Gore-TEX version of the freedom pant with a very similar fit. As expected, the Gore-TEX adds additional breathability and durability. The pants flare out a bit more at the boot than I expected, but not in an offensive way at all. The front pockets with the zipper could have been designed a little better (perhaps diagonally) but isn't a significant issue. These are a nice option, at a price point that works for the quality and design.
