Clunky with questionable quality
I used this once at the beach in Rosarito Mexico. There wasn't much wind to speak of, only the typical ocean breeze. As one of the others reviewers mentioned, this thing is a sail. The instructions (such as they were) were less detailed than I'd like. Set up was a pain, but provided some entertainment for other beachgoers. The twigs that provide support for the structure are held together with an elastic cord that provides no confidence in it's ability to stand up to even the lightest use. This tent explained to me, in a way that was easy to understand, why people at the beach use umbrellas. I'd suggest going that route. When I did erect the tent it did provide sun protection. That's why it get's 2 stars. However, when the sun moves the tent will, of course, need to be moved as well. That is another harrowing battle against the ocean breeze and provides more entertainment for spectators. Don't get this tent at any price. Life is too short to spend fighting badly designed equipment. I will not use it again.

Bungee ripped after less than 10 uses.

Love the portability, we use this at my kids soccer games. Great wind resistance and easy to pack. Unfortunately bungee keeping set of poles together ripped so quickly. Otherwise great product for the sale price.

Worst outdoor gear I?ve ever bought!
This equipment looked nice on the pics, but on the beach turned out a nightmare. With a steady breeze (not uncommon on a beach) we had a real difficulty only to get the very very long poles in place. Once we had them in place, we had a perfect sail. No pins or other anchoring was provided, no pouches to pour some sand, so the two of us had a hard time holding on to the tent. It could have taken off and sailed over the Atlantic. Next time we will bring our own pins, but not sure where to fasten them to the tent, the metal loops for the poles doesn?t really have space also for a pin.

Used it today for the first time
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Used the Stoic sun shade for the first time today while vacationing on NC?s Outer Banks. Generally well designed although could use some design improvements. Pros: - relatively easy for two people to set up in a light breeze - good ventilation to keep it from being a solar oven - good size - compact and easy to carry to the beach Cons - the wire stakes supplied are useless in the sand. Luckily I noticed the stakes before we left and ordered some 10? plastic corkscrew style stakes that worked well in the sand. Since this sun shade is design for the beach, why not supply suitable stakes with it instead of the ineffective wire pins? - the canopy is a not deep enough to provide shade when facing the sun/ocean here on the east coast in the late morning. At 11am, the sun was still flooding 3/4 of the area of the area under the shade. An awning sticking out the front for a couple feet would be ideal.

Great for a long day in the sun!

I purchased this sun shelter for beach and lake days this summer. I was surprised by how big it was when we set it up - but it was great to keep us shaded during a long day in the sun. It can be a bit tricky to set up if it's windy, and I recommend reinforcing it if there is weather - but it's a great product for the price! It's also super easy to carry with you - it's lightweight and fits in your beach tote.

Is there a fabric bottom to it or just straps that connect the sides across the bottom? If not, are there ground anchors or a way to weight it down? Thanks!

Does this come with ground anchors? Is it water resistant/proof?
