Why We Like The Stoic Insulated Hooded Parka
We made our Insulated Hooded Parka with synthetic insulation to stay warm even if it gets wet. Though, that may be a challenge because we also added a water-resistant treatment to shed snow and rain off the fabric's surface. The parka's length improves coverage, and its casual fit is ideal for comfort.

Cheap Zipper & Didn’t accept my Return

I’ve been a Backcounty customer for over 12 years, I read the return policy over very carefully after keeping this jacket for a few weeks during the holiday busy times. Never Used, Never worn for more than a moment to try on 2-3 times to see if it would work. Now it’s being SENT BACK with no refund. Very curious what criteria is being used to determine USED status….because I wouldn’t waste my time/gas and energy to return Something improperly. VERY DISAPPOINTING Zipper seems VERY weak/plastic. Overall the rest jacket was fine except arms too short for me. I will probably never but Stoic brand again as the pants I bought a while ago started coming apart immediately as well. Stoic Joggers :( Bad, Sad, Disappointed I was not even contacted or offered credit (even though the jacket was NOT USED—and I DID carefully review their policy)

It's lasted a few snow storms in Colorado, works well with an added layer, and fits nicely. The hood is snug too to keep the warmth in. Just wish there was an extra pocket.

Well Made But Small

I disagree with most of the reviews for this parka. It is very nice and well made for the price. However, the sizing runs on the small side. I’m a size 8 or medium in pants and wear medium tops. The size M parka I ordered was so snug on me. I only had a long sleeve t-shirt on which is not thick at all. I didn’t even try to put it on with a sweater or sweatshirt. This parka is fine if you’re only going to be wearing t-shirts all winter. It should be made larger to accommodate thicker clothes and for layering which is how people typically dress in the winter. I was going to reorder an XL in the black but they are now sold out and I know why…this parka is made too small!

Great Jacket

I was looking for a simple and warm, long down jacket. While this was synthetic, for the sale price of $67 I thought I?d give it a try. I love it, and I have worn it almost every day this winter. It is simple, warm and well made. I found it to be true to size - I am the exact measurements of a size 8 on the size chart, and the medium fit perfectly with just enough room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. What a great deal for a new winter staple.

I have a Stoic jacket that I bought in 2012. It has been great, with good padding and long sleeves so I don't need gloves, although it was time to get a new one because I've worn it out! My old jacket, size Small, has a flattering cut, but in a new jacket I was looking for just SLIGHTLY larger to be able to fit a fluffy fleece underneath. I read the reviews and used the size chart and decided to order a Medium. When the new coat arrived, my husband laughed out loud: it is SO BIG. I can pull it out 6-8 inches or more horizontally in the back, and it looks like I'm just wearing my sleeping bag. He said that it looked like the difference from my old Small to this new Medium meant I could safely gain 50 lbs and still fit. Now I'm not sure if I should try again and order the new Small, which must also be a bigger style, or just return it and continue my search. I'm hesitant now knowing that the sleeves on the new model aren't that awesome longer-length of my old coat.

I just tried this on in my apartment and had to take it off because I got too hot. It's very thick and heavy. I can't wait to use it. I listened to the 'runs small' and ordered a size medium. It does not run small. I am exchanging it for a small because the medium was way too big.

I purchased this parka in anticipation of cold weather and I cannot wait for it to start snowing so I can wear this! I like to have a bit of room to layer a sweater or fleece underneath, and so I sized up from a small to a medium.
