Great for when the water is a little iffy. Small, compact, and rechargeable makes this a great piece of kit!

Pocket Buddy!
I love this thing! I do a lot of ski touring and high alpine routes. Traditional filters are big, bulky and they freeze. No issues here! I scoop up some water and 90 seconds later, voila! We drankin! Remember, it's not a filter so if you have water with a lot of sediment, it's gonna be nasty but as a pocket tool for clean water anywhere fast, it can't be beat.

Used it for a 4 day hunt and did about 6 gallons of water. Still had a charge. No complaints from me.

Top Notch- Safe, efficient and simple
we just returned from 3 week Himalayan Trek in Nepal- used the Purifier every day. it was reliable, simple and effective for a group of 5 trekkers. Easy to keep charged handy in a cargo pocket.

Great Product
We have enjoyed this light a lot. We have used it backpacking, on long hikes and bike rides. We loved how easy it is to use but it is hard to see the light when using it on bright sunny days.

Limited use
I was attracted to this item because of it's small weight and size. Although it has it's limitations with it's small battery. I seem to consistently get 5-6 one liter sterilizations with a full charge. Sometimes less depending on how cold it is. While this is fine for a day trip, or in a stretch an overnight, anything longer becomes problematic. If you want a more reliable and bigger battery go with the larger Steripen.

Easy to Use, Ultralight, Safe
This is a very easy to use purifier, but not a filter. This works superbly if you are just taking water from a clear stream, or lake even. But if the water is dirty at all, you're going to need to filter it with something like a coffee filter, to get the dirt, silt, bugs, etc. out. You simply fill your water bottle, insert the purifier, press the button, and stir. The UV light kills everything, including viruses. Another advantage is if you have one bottle that acts as a dirty bottle, and one for clean water, because the UV light kills everything it "touches" it can at least purify the dirty bottle as well for the most part.

Awesome for Peace Corps in Guam!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This pen appears to have it all - lightest steripen ever, most compact, best price, and it touts great performance specs. What a deal - all those people buying the larger, heavier, more expensive pens are total shills, right? Nope. While this pen IS light and compact, it's compact size is its downfall. With such a small battery located so near the (cold) water its treating, this pen is VERY susceptible to premature battery drain from the cold. I bought this for two uses - treating stream/spring water on long runs in the Wasatch range, and treating water on October overnight backcountry elk hunts in the Uintas. In both places, the available water is chilly - so chilly that it kills the (fully charged that morning) battery in fewer than ten liters! Mind you, this is with an essentially new device, which has fewer than ten charge cycles on the battery with a high-quality charger. The only way I've found to maintain battery functionality is to re-warm the pen at skin level for a few minutes between bottles and the hike with it in an inside pocket and sleep with it. I'll keep this as a fast, light option for trail runs, but it'll be staying at home for any future overnight trips north of the Tropic of Cancer. Yikes.
