Carbon 30mm/386EVO L Gen 3 Power Meter Crank Arm

It's hard to argue the benefits of training with a power meter if you're looking to get fit. Having quantifiable data from a response while on the bike is so much more specific than perceived exertion and heart rate and the geniuses at Stages now makes it easy to add a 30mm spindle carbon crankarm to your existing crankset, without a hefty investment, so you can start training like a pro. With five separate spindles, you can retrofit the Carbon 30mm/386EVO L Gen 3 Power Meter Crank Arm to work with your FSA 386, SRAM BB30, and Race Face Next SL cranks with ease providing you with valuable data in a lightweight package.

This non-drive side carbon arm's profile and finish closely matches the offerings from the other brands with the exception of the Stages branding and the small power meter pod affixed to the arm's inner surface, providing the power data to help you measure your ride and efforts. It utilizes strain gauges and an accelerometer to gather position and force data 64 times per second and delivers power data and cadence with a claimed +/- 1.5% accuracy that's right in line with other high-quality power meters on the market. Additionally, the system constantly compensates for temperature changes for increased accuracy, the firmware is wirelessly upgradable, and the updated BlueTooth and ANT+ radios offer an improvement of transmission strength by 6-fold.

Finally, the Stages power meter adds around 15-grams to the bare crank arm, which is nothing considering the data tracking and training specificity that having a power meter affords. The unit's water resistance rating stands at IPX7 and the user replaceable CR2032 battery lasts for approximately 200 hours.

  • A power-measuring crank arm for 30mm spindle cranks
  • +/-1.5% accuracy lets you train with precision
  • Carbon construction ensures that power isn't lost to flex

  • Pairs with Stages Power App for firmware updates and zero resets

Did not work

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It's always easier to leave a review on something personal, like clothing. With a power meter, it's binary - either it works or it doesn't. This one does not work. Stages seems like a good company, so I'll chalk this up to that one-off malfunctioning piece that comes off the line. Competitive Cyclist is always great and had no questions when I called to request a refund. They sent over the shipping label right away. The details of my "did not work" comment are as follows: I installed the crank arm and tested it out with the Stages app on my street one night, and aside from some sporadic readings, the majority of the power numbers seemed reasonable. The next day I went on my normal "break in" mountain bike ride to see how the power meter would perform when paired to my Garmin. For the first two miles it was ok. Then I saw some crazy numbers (over 3000) even when I was not pedaling. At about mile 5-6, the meter stopped altogether - read zero for about 30-45 minutes. At that point I tried it with the Stages app thinking it was a connection issue between it and my Garmin, but even when connected to their app, no data was coming through. Toward the end of my ride (about mile 18), it started showing watts again, and they again seemed reasonable, but by that point my confidence in the product was gone. This is an expensive accessory, and I can't justify that price for the unreliability.

Would this Stages Crank Arm power meter be compatible with a SRAM Rival 1X groupset? Thanks for your help.

This the correct arm for XX1 AXS crank? Along with the G spindle. TY. No manufacture product numbers to verify.

How much does this crank arm actually weigh? Only listed weight is for the meter itself.

Hey Dylan! The weight of the crank arm is 148 grams. Let me know if you have any other questions!
