Match the hatch with ease.

Fish are rising, but knowing what fly to tie on can be tricky, especially if you come from the school of thought that all bugs are the same. In his book, Handbook Of Hatches, Dave Hughes breaks down how to connect with what's on the water with what's in your fly box, so you can effectively imitate those insects and trick those trout.

Great Resource

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This book came recommended to me by a friend that is a seasoned fly fisherman. I really like the simple way it breaks down fly selection. The complexity can be a bit intimidating but the book helps to focus on a few principles that helps relax my anxieties. I am new to fly fishing but I think this book has something for everyone the newbie or seasoned pro.

A Real Page Turner!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wow, I learned so much from this book in the first chapter that I couldn't put it down! Not only does it tell you about the hatches, but helps to add color around what type of fly you should use in different scenarios. Helps to reduce the confusion when opening up my box.
