Why We Like The Smith Nexus MIPS Helmet

With innovative, protective performance and a top-tier fit, the Smith Nexus MIPS Helmet keeps us covered through hard-charging resort days with confidence and comfort. The low-profile hybrid shell construction balances low weight with tough durability in a sleek design, while complete Koroyd coverage and MIPS technology take our protection to the next level. We also really appreciate features like an integrated visor and AirEvac ventilation (24 vents!) keeping our dome comfortable in changing conditions.

I tried this on and it feels and fits true to size. It feels very protective. For me it feels way too warm as I am always too hot on the mountain. The ear flaps are not removable which is a deal breaker for me. Still highly recommended.

Sizing runs larger than Vantage

This helmet has great features and wanted to love the fit but just doesn’t work for me. I was able to try on a medium before ordering that was just a hair too small. The only large I was able to try was the Vantage which fit great. The Nexus large fits much looser than the Vantage large and cinched to a proper fit put the visitor so low on the forehead none of the goggles I tried would fit well. Just could not get it adjusted for a comfortable fit and had to return it and getting the Vantage. Quality, style, and features of the Nexus are top notch and if it fit me as well as the Vantage does would be five stars all the way.

Nice Helmet

Not the warmest helmet. Adding a hood/liner helps, and not otherwise being warm means it works better as it gets warmer. Great integration with my Smith goggles, which never fog. Had an issue with a previous Smith helmet with the goggle retainer getting too stretched. It looks like the goggle retainer on the Nexus is not replaceable (which I find odd, as that is a high warranty issue. Had to remove foam from the earpiece to get music speakers to fit. Even doing that, the fit was pretty snug (same size as old helmet). But after a couple weeks, I have either adapted or it has packed out a little. I like the magnetic buckle. Light, but not the lightest helmet out there. Expensive, but my head is worth it.

Carrying bag

The helmet alone is an excellent product in terms of comfort, weight and fit. The problem is its very poor quality carrying bag compared to the old ones. One of the seams gave way and as a result the helmet fell on the concrete slab of my garage, damaging it. Frustrating for a new helmet of this price.

Best Everyday Helmet

I love this helmet! The multi directional protection makes me feel safer when riding through tree lines. Easy to put on and adjust, and my googles fit perfectly and snug.

Right fit for me

I’m enjoying my Nexus so far. This helmet fits me better than other Smith helmets I’ve used. The buckle, sleek design and high confidence in safety make this a great buy.

Slightly heavier helmet with a stronger design. No one wants to run into something. But I'd feel a lot more confident in this than other things I have worn before
