The Lightweight Dry Sack is Sea to Summit's most versatile dry sack. It provides the waterproof protection you'd expect out of a dry bag, and is also light and packable for backpacking trips. It boasts similar waterproof ratings to most ski shells, and fully sealed seams work with the roll-top closure to prevent a single water drop from dripping through. Sea to Summit designed it into various sizes suitable for solo day treks or multi-week group trips.

  • Lightweight, waterproof fabric packs small and fends off wetness
  • Hypalon roll-top closure creates a watertight seal

Does what it should

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Serves its function perfectly - keeps things dry without fuss, packs down tiny, what more could you ask for? The only downside is how thin the material is, so I'm a little worried that it could catch and rip, but that doesn't matter much when its getting chucked in a pack or going on an easy paddling trip. I grabbed both the 1L and 4L that I use constantly when kayaking and just opt for a thicker material for climbing/camping.

Sandbags for us.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Honestly.. I bought these to be sandbags for our parasheet beach blanket and inflatable loungers while at the beach. They are very nice dry bags and I almost feel bad using them for the duty they have been issued. I would recommend these bags for anyone needing a dry sack for keeping things from getting wet. Or putting sand in them to keep things weighted down.

Decent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Purchased a 4L and 1L for small, quick access on the trail. The material is very thin and I am concerned they could rip rather easily. Water proof function is good. Might opt for a more substantial material next time.

It's a great dry sack

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Awesome dry sack to keep your gear dry. I like rocking a 1litre clipped to my belt when I'm canyoneering. That being said they do rub through pretty easily as the material is thin. So watch out when your shimming through small slots.

Nice and dry

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Bought these for a friend and he has this to say: I saw these bags listed on a best buy list and I have to agree with whoever made the list. I used the bags on a recent kayak trip and they worked perfectly. They also pack down really small when they are empty. The small 1L bag was great for my phone and wallet another stuff you may want easier access to..

Great for keeping things dry in ski bag

Familiarity:

Love bringing these out with me touring in the backcountry - I like to keep an extra set of gloves, goggles and my food in here or any other important things that have to stay dry

High quality

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The bag does exactly what it's intended to do. Kept everything dry and helped with organization of my backpack. Only reason I gave it 4 stars was because It was difficult to compress all the air out when the bag was only half full. Would benefit from having different sizes.

Cheap Insurance

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Lightweight and packs down to nothing when not in use. This dry bag comes in plenty of sizes for any occasion and does a fantastic job of keeping your gear dry, ensuring clean and dry gear for a comfy night of sleeping or next day of adventuring. I love the extra insurance of having a place to stash electronics (phone, cameras, etc) if you get caught in an alpine rainstorm or find yourself at a deeper than planned stream crossing.

Perfect for travel

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I got the 4L version of this bag for my smaller electronics and things like that that I brought on my trip to Costa Rica so they would not get any humidity damage while I was down there. Things like phone, charger, camera etc. It is a great little bag that fits most of what you need in a small package.

Good bag

I use these in conjunction with larger catches on my bike for bikepacking. They have kept my items dry and clean, and have held up well to the straps that secure them to the cages.

bone dry

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Used this for food storage on all of my river trips this year. It is very durable and water proof. When we would go to bed for the night, it was very easy to tie on a string and haul it up into a tree, out of reach of the critters.

I also used one for a bear bag during my AT thru-hike. It really does keep everything inside perfectly dry!

Looking for a bag to slide onto an outdoor punching bag to protect from So. California Sun also rain proof would be nice. I need something to cover 42.5 inch long punching bag .

Doesn't look like any of these would fit full length unfortunately, nor would other versions. What is the diameter of the bag?

I am looking for a bag to store my laptop...

I am looking for a bag to store my laptop in while in the extremely humid rain forest this summer. I won't be bringing it out into the forest much, I just need a bag that I can keep my laptop in that will keep it dry from the moisture while I am not using it. Is this my best option?

Have you measured the dimensions of your laptop? I would be concerned about it even fitting into one of these dry sacks, unless it's a netbook. The maximum width on the largest of these is 12", so I believe your best bet would be finding something along the lines of a weatherproof bike carrier bag or something like that. The moisture will be a problem, certainly, and more so if you have it close to your body for extended periods of time, so be careful about that as well. However, unless you have a VERY small laptop (such as the aforementioned netbook option), I would dissuade you from even bothering to purchase this. Hope this helps, though perhaps someone may follow behind me and posit alternative reasons for purchase that I may not have thought of.
