Exactly what I needed

I bought this as a replacement part after someone hit our rack. It was great not to have to buy a whole new rack and this was easy to replace. The old rack was getting a bit "loose" from years of heavy use, and now it is back to "like new" condition.

Tie bar

Works well so far. A lot less sway with the new part.

Works good on my Wrangler

This converted my Spare Tire Mount Superclamp to a Hitch Mount Superclamp. I wish the hitch was about an inch or two longer to prevent the rack from touching the spare when folded up in the storage position. Removing the pin allows the rack to drop down so I can fully open the rear door of my Wrangler - a vital need there that other hitch mount racks I've tried (Bones and Freedom) did not allow me to do.

Easy to use and sturdy

My Saris Freedom developed a crack at the lowering mechanism. The pull tab cracked which is plastic. Saris just send me a while tilting base which was great and under warranty. It’s a strong rack and hold up well. Highway speeds are no issue and the bikes stay put.

It wiggles too much

We bought this to replace our old one because the tilting base handle broke. My husband installed it and now when the bikes are in there, the base rocks back and forth way to much. Much more than the original one. He has tried everything and it still rocks.

Great replacement

After being bummed by a car behind me, the tilting base was broken. The replacement part came quickly and installed even quicker. Great product! Great company!

Ok but wobbles too much

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this adapter for my Superclamp EX 4 rack so I could downsize it to a 2 bike rack with this hitch adapter. I like this unit as it kept the rack very close to the vehicle, was light weight and was able to fit a 1.25" or 2" receiver. The product, in general, was well made, but I thought that it wobbled too much when the rack was pivoted into the position to hold the bikes. It wobbled side to side, not from the interface with the hitch receiver on the car, but from the pivot point where the bike rack attaches to the hitch bar. In this location where the rack can rotate from stowed, to carry bikes mode, to access your hatch mode, there was too much play and the rack wobbled as we drove and it was noticeable going around turns or rough bumps in the road. I tried to tighten the bolt that holds these two pieces together, but it only made the release mechanism harder to operate and didnt remove the wobble. I compared this to my heavy-duty receiver mount from the superclamp 4 and that unit doesnt move one bit and is very sturdy. I ended up returning the unit and purchased the Heavy Duty version of the Supercalmp EX 2 bike hitch adapter and it solved all the wobble issues. It was just as sturdy as the 4 bike hitch mount and tilt mechanism and also came with a hitch pin lock. I hope maybe I just received a bad unit with poor tolerance but glad I upgraded to the heavier duty version of the hitch adapter. If you have a 2" receiver, I would suggest getting the Heavy Duty version of this product. While the bikes were not at jeopardy of damage or loss, and this didn't wobble as much as other brands, I wasnt willling to sacrifice the stability I paid so much money for in the Saris products.

replacement part

Even though we thought we would never hear from Saris due to covid quarantine, we finally did hear from them and the part and delivery were done in a very timely manner.

folds nicely, saves space...a bit wobbly

I have the saris 2 bike carrier & receiver on a Toyota yards. wanted the folding option, ordered it and got it delivered quickly. whereas the original non-folding was rock solid, the folding unit wobbles side to side and forward to back with a single bike on it. this looked worrisome, but seems ok. not so much as visible when driving.
